Asphalt??? Santa Maria Speedway was a 1/3 mile clay oval when we ran Sprints there.
Kern County Raceway Park at Hwy 43 and I 5 about 20 minutes past Taft. Asphalt 5/8, big banking, the back chute is about 20 feet higher than the front chute. Great track for spectators, see the entire track from the bleachers. About 2 years ago they added a 1/3 mile clay oval and they also have a motocross track. Really nice facility. Santa Maria Raceway hasn't changed much, different operators, and I hear the Fort Family is in the process of selling it. Season starts 4/21 with USAC 360 Sprints.

I miss the Dodger games. Best night I had there was watching Fernando Valenzuela belt a home run nearly out of the park. Incredible slugger for a pitcher. They used to intentionally walk him!!
I saw Fernando pitch at Jack Murphy in SD his rookie year. The NL hadn't quite figured out he could actually hit the ball yet. He went 2for3 with an RBI. The Stadium was packed to the rafters, I had never seen that many folks in Jack Murphy unless it was a Charger game. Going to a Padre game was like at the ticket booth "Just give us the money, sit wherever you want" there were 40K empty seats on a nightly basis. I think the Tri Tip will go in some Chili Colorado tomorrow, rain coming on and off for the next week at least. Better late than never.

Just curious if any of you guys had a real "Ides Of March" day or evening. Bunch of strange things, first couple I served brought in their own wine, but it was one we have on our list, so I had to tell them I am sorry but you'd probably want to enjoy that some other time (against policy) which was very awkward. Next table was a psycho woman, she must have been on pills because got super irate that we didn't have any "buttery Chardonnays" in her price range. They are local and not their first visit either so they know our wine list is expensive. I almost lost it she was being that nasty. She literally was catatonic at the end and her husband practically carried her out. Also, our wine coolers malfunctioned and a bunch of wines froze and came partially uncorked, so they are ruined. Weird, huh?
