Fair question. Just want a better handling car. Got everything to improve handling/stopping except the shocks..The real question is what you are trying to get out of them?

I'm all over that. Ran out of hard stuff. I might have to get into the supply of Orange Shandy beer. I'm there!Toolman has it right ... Cocktail time!![]()
Well, since you aren’t racing it in autocross I suggest that the Bilsteins are what you need and nothing fancier than that. The new suspension will do most of the handling work, you just need a shock with a reasonable amount of performance and good street manners.Fair question. Just want a better handling car. Some spirited street driving. Might see some road track use..Fair question. Just want a better handling car. Got everything to improve handling/stopping except the shocks..
Highly recommend those
And you have driven on them in an A-body?Highly recommend those
Yes. But they were already tuned in the Dart I got to play with. That's why I said above theyd need tuning to truly get the most out of them. And you have driven on them in an A-body?

Agree. Heavier front torsion bars and unknown rear springs makes it risky to go with too much of a high tech specialized shock. I’d stay with either the Bilsteins or Hotchkis as a best first choice. This isn’t being built to be a track queen.generally I'd say stay with a shock that's already been setup to work with a suspension package similar to yours. I'd say either the Hotchkiss or a Bilstien. I forget, who put together the Bilis to fit our cars? Firm feel? I remember when Tim Werner used them in Project Valiant he had to put together is own.
A buddy's 71. Met him a few years back, he's one of the track setup guys for my local SCCA chapter. He let me take it for a spin to try it out at one of the events. I've got a video of me driving it somewhere on one of the numerous externals HDs. Hang on, gonna switch to my laptop and see if I can find it.What Dart you got to play with?
Honestly, any of the three , Hotchiss , bilstein or even Vikings would do you just fine. Since you're not going to be chasing tenths of a second at a track every weekend, I'd honestly go with the Hotchiss ones as you can call them, tell them your combo and I bet they'll be able to pick the right set of shocks for you.See why I have not purchased them yet?![]()

So, you did a test drive in a purpose tuned track driven A body once and you think that applies to someone building a street performer? Did it have the rest of the same suspension that Tim has? Did you drive it daily on regular roads to really evaluate it?A buddy's 71. Met him a few years back, he's one of the track setup guys for my local SCCA chapter. Stock how? Do you know the part numbers or spring rates? It matters a lot when selecting a shock. The rear springs are just a Stock replacement set.
I'm curious who it is. Almost every Mopar autocrosser was on Mopax... its a small list.A buddy's 71. Met him a few years back, he's one of the track setup guys for my local SCCA chapter. Well the highly recommended comes not only from that experience but from all the reputable sources also recommending them. So, you did a test drive in a purpose tuned track driven A body once and you think that applies to someone building a street performer? Your “highly recommended” endorsement is highly suspect.

78- part number in my experience could be either from Triangle Mfg or Stanley Springs. These are what I bought General Spring | 1964-1976 Plymouth & Dodge Car Leaf Springs
Plymouth Valiant Leaf Springs - Stengel Bros Inc.78- part number in my experience could be either from Triangle Mfg or Stanley Springs.
The place in Allentown has a good listing of Stanley springs - lets see what that matches.
