Chris, i really dont want to ask, but it happens more often than you think, did you check to make sure chains were on correct direction?
This topic came up a couple weeks ago with a long time wood cutter i know.a couple saws with chains on backwards and no one had the nerve to tell him.

Reminds me of the tiller that was given to me. Old guy hated that thing, was rough and wouldnt dig.
Tines were backwards. Never did tell him...

ive done that before. But not in this case.

Super aggressive fast cutting chain?
If your saw and bar combination
Takes 3/8,.050 chain then thats what it takes.
The safety chain im sure has never been on any of your saws.
Its useless.
3/8.058 chain is one chain made to fit the guage and pitch. A ripping chain is usually a reground chain with almost a square cut to keep it from following the grain in the wood.

I would like to see a good close up photo of your burned up chain,
Especially the condition of the cutting link.
There’s several different types. Usually comes down to the pitch, the angle, side cut or not. The ones I have are the stock standard, the RS and then the big saw has RSK type stihl chains. Both cut way faster than the standard chains.

I have a Foley Belsaw sharpener, love that thing you can adjust the teeth aggressive or not depending how you need it. They are around on CL look for a 1055 machine usually 150-200. Does most of the sharpening you will ever need. (drill bits, scissors, clippers, blades, Circular saw blades, shears, etc)

Nice, we’ve got two dedicated chain sharpeners. One is stihl specific and the other will do the other types.

A lot of guys I know use the clamp on file types and it does not file the guide part down and they wonder why it will not cut!

Morning Crew...Hope all is welll. We get patches of ironwood up here too. Wreaks havoc on the loggers. I know my brother and his old crew used to cut what they could and all was used for road bedding for the skidderes. It may be worth money to someone but it is very hard on the tools.
