No scuffing or other damage on any of the others?
Is it possible slightly shorter pushrods would work better?
Every thing looked good to me. And prior to this happening there was no indication that anything was amiss. Thinking of going with ductile rockers. It’s not a super big cam by any standards so aluminum rockers seem like overkill to me. The whole thing has got me kind of leery of driving it. I’m a firm believer of “stuff happens” but without solid proof it was a faulty rocker then it just makes me uneasy.

Well, the possibilities are only a few. Defective rocker, lack of oil, defective pushrod with a bur or uneven surface on top ,or a sticking valve causing extra pressure on the pushrod/rocker contact point.

The best way to determine which it might be is to reinspect that rocker after some period of time and see if it is showing any signs of excessive wear. If it isn’t, then it was just a bad rocker. If it is, time to look deeper at the rest of the probable causes.

That’s pretty much what I was thinking, I inspected the other pushrods and rockers, they all looked good and couldn’t tell the difference between the one that pushed through and the others. Well at least with my eyes and a magnifying glass. Seemed to be plenty of oil up top so I lean away from an oil issue. Would it also seem reasonable to think that if it was an oiling issue it probably would have kinda worn through not break/split the rocker?

Somewhere waay in the back of my mind i recall something about the odd rocker failure such as this. I just cant pinpoint it.

Here are a couple shots, looks to me like it may have just plain old broke...

My insurance agent said he couldn't help. We were old friends but he could have been passing me off to get rid of me. Again I don't know this stuff

No. He’s not wrong. Agents contrary to popular belief RARELY handle or get involved in actual claims outside of the initial file. Unless further licensed as an adjuster or claims investigator. It all depends on what licensing they have and what their contracted companies allow them to do.

I think it is likely just a defective rocker. Inspect it again after a while and you will know for sure.

I’ve seen lots of failures like this and it almost always comes down to a defective part. Don't over think it and follow up with appropriate inspection to be sure.

Mine has offered to help. Going in tomorrow to discuss, and then probably call the other guy with my agent. They said I should be able to buy it back, but still don't have a price. Should also know where the bank stands on the payoff check tomorrow as well. Soooo, maybe then I will be able to move forward on deciding what I want to do.

just here on a whim?
My sister in law was working here, she has a travel trailer she was living in, she was out of the country most of the time. I am going to tow her trailer south to her property. 38 ft pull trailer. No big deal....she has 10 acres in valley center...
