Stop in for a cup of coffee

Flooring finished before supper.
Now a couple hundred feet of 1x4 cedar to rip, stain and install. Have to get an accurate measurement. May just go with clear pine.

Just starting the day here. These two LITTLE VN girls drank 24 beers with me, all said and done. They don't feel so well today

Oh boy, now it gets stupid with what’s left of my father’s Estate. The original will can’t be found and the duly executed legal copy in my father’s lawyers possession isn’t being accepted by the State of New Jersey where he died. They are forcing it into probate.

This is going to be a 6-9 month pain in the *** while it works through that process. It doesn’t really affect my share of the Estate since I was paid as a beneficiary of his holdings making them non-probatable. But it does mean I get dragged into the legal case of probate for the rest.

Ugh! :BangHead:

yikes.

I'd make this again when in the mood for throw-back comfort food, worth peeling/cleaning the shrimp...I gave it a splash of sherry and some red pepper flakes

Good to see you having a good time Mitch and those ladies don't shy away from a good time either.

Yowzah I am stuffed, time to get horizontal and let supper settle.

That sounds bizarre Dave. I'm sure it is what it is and there is some rational behind the decision. Ugh. Took long enough when everything was not probated.

It would have been clean if someone had kept the original will safe...but they didn’t. My father’s worst decision was not leaving me in charge of the Estate. He didn’t want to “burden” me so he left it to my older sister to be executor...and she dropped the ball. He should have known better, but he made a bad decision.

Probate. I hate to hear that.

Yeah, no fun.

My dad always had a blind spot when it came to his daughters and never learned from how they always fucked up every time he gave them chances to take responsibility. He just somehow always wanted to believe they would get it right next time...and they never did...always at my expense.

This is now the last legacy of that blind perspective...and the “burden” he claimed to want to spare me from is now exponentially greater than it would have been just putting me in charge in the first place. Just like he always did to me my entire life.

I loved the man, but he was always a complete idiot when it came to his daughters.

Wife's father was gone 2 years in November. Not a dime paid out yet. Be lucky if there is anything left if it ever happens.

I'm not looking forward to what's coming up on my wife's side of the family. It will get ugly I'm sure.

All the more reason to make sure you do estate planning properly and make sure your wishes are carried out if you plan to leave anyone anything.

Otherwise, you might just as well take it with you...if only to make sure the lawyers don’t get it

I for damned sure won’t make that mistake with my daughter. No lawyer will ever be able to touch a dime of what I leave behind for her...and she won’t be able to do anything stupid with the funds either.

I made the last lawyer my mom used very unhappy - I had him post the legal notices and letters and that was it, he was done. Accountant and myself handled everything else. If there were disputes it might have been another story, but there weren't.

-30 and power just went out. Went and got inverter and a couple big batteries, and pellet stove is relighting now.

I did my Dad's estate myself. Probated, but was all between my sister and I.
