So did I....

I tried to start my lawn mower yesterday as the grass is getting long and needs to be cut soon and it would kick over and then die...

There was some gas in the tank from last year... I must have meant to mulch some more leaves last fall and left it in, but never got the chance to mulch the leaves in the back yard or the neighbor's yard like I intended to do....

I cleaned out the carb, put a new spark plug and air filter on it, emptied the old gas out and found some sediment in it, filled it back up with gas, and she fires right up now with just a light pull on the cord...

Cleaned up the jet, float, needle, and seat:

Here is the carb all cleaned up and ready to go:

Replaced the old e3 spark plug with a Bosch double platinum plug:

Here's the new air filter:

And here it is all back together before I test started it:

Now if it could only stop raining for a few days so the yards can dry out and then I can cut the grass.... :BangHead:

I took a sledge hammer to my 12 yr old mower and weedeater last weekend. Made damn sure I wouldn't be tempted to 'fix' them just one more time to limp along another season. Got some new junk now (actually bought some higher end junk this time).

Oddly enough, we've had quite a bit of rain here in the sandy desert. Maybe I can mow late next week..

I was considering buying a new mower of the same model, but I looked them up and they added the "priming bulb" to the carb, so I bet none of the spare air cleaners and parts from the other three broken ones that I have will work on it...

Plus they are now using 140 cc engines instead of the 150 cc engines that are on mine...

So I decided to keep this one going until I hit something and bend the crank shaft like the other three "parts mowers" that I have...

I suspect that the self propelled unit may be going out (or may need a belt adjustment soon) and I have a mower that I broke after two weeks that I can scavenge the drive system off of if I need it... Plus I have two more of them with a little more run time before I bent those cranks... So I got lotsa spare parts to keep this one running unless I bend the crank on this one also...

Got the anodizing off. Found another article that said use EZ Off oven cleaner. Had some so tried it, worked pretty good. I have the trunk extension pieces fully sanded and ready to polish. The trunk lip, I need to take out a few dents and sand it down. Tomorrows project.
Let me know how it works out and post some pics!!

Not first.
Dog woke us up. She couldnt get up on her feet. I guess the back end is giving out. I have a feeling ol fury will be having her last visit with the vet...

LOL that ended with the cold war. Hell how may Christmasas did I work out of 25? Not by volunteering either. 17! Worst was new years eve 2000. Expecting full zombies to appear in battle rattle and all the red cross training you can think of up to shelter manager!

I remember 2000 working in the EOC until about 2am. I went back to the bunk room and slept a couple hours, got up and worked a shift at the department.

We went nuts being at the 106th just outside of NYC. Had all the helo's fueled, crews ready, PJ's there also. 20 or so of us lowly maintenance guys in a windowless room all night armed. Of course since I had all the red cross training I was the GIC. Had a guy with us that got divorce papers served the day before. I made sure all the guns went back in the armory because of him asking all the time when we will get the guns. Not a fun time at all!Oh and to boot MRE's for food. Worst day I ever spent serving.
