Stop in for a cup of coffee

So i booked three days to go to battle with that damram. Solved it so now i have a couple days to play with a few other back burner jobs.

Looks like we got lucky. The storm split and went around us on each side. Just some brief heavy rain and lightning.
Same here.
Still could be more for all of us.

But a friend in Del. City (which is not a city) just sent some pictures of the golf balls that fell from the sky.

Yeah, it looks like it is going to train over us for most of the night. The only bright spot is that the storms have lost the daytime heating in the upper atmosphere and appear to be settling down a bit.

This forum makes me crazy sometimes.

Why is it that people find it so hard to be nice and respectful of other people, but will be self-righteously judgmental and condescending toward others in a heartbeat. Even to the point of being frequently insulting.

Has the older generation become so angry and judgmental that they have lost their compassion and respect for others?

I just don’t get it. Whatever happened to “Do unto others as you would have them do to you”?

Ya,Dave its sad.
I think what if someone said that to me.
If i deserved it, thats ok. But kick a guy when he’s already hurtin, bad.
Moron is a word i dont care to use unless its really necessary.

It takes all kinds...

Well we dodge the tornado tonight close, on the ground off and on for 40+ miles lots of damage.
We had a super cell pass by the house for three four minutes the lighting thunder was a flash/bang every ten seconds.
You could hear it coming, pass over, and then moving on. Kept thinking the next lighting bolt was going to hit us.
Had two inches rain in a little over 30 minutes. The creek out back is running high, but no worry of flooding.
Looking forward to hitting the road in the morning and heading north for a few days.

I don't have an answer to these questions Dave.
It is a different set of life experiences that help some stop and think whether being helpful by being informative is really helpful at all.
Yet it still is pretty surprising that someone could go so far as to use a degrading label and press send.

I do think more people are awfully judgemental and condescending these days. All we can do is try to to set a better example.

It’s not just older folks, even worse is my generation. And worse yet, the generation after me. Gone are the days of having differing view points and still being friends and having rationale conversations. Prime example, look at how they talked to @Mopar Tim over in the N&P sections. Tim and I are what I call as far opposite as can be politically yet, we’ve held numerous conversations without name calling or belittling. But others, not so much

When conversation begins on the basis of respect, healthy debate can be had.

Otherwise it is just pointless since nobody has any interest in believing anything other than they are right...and everyone else is wrong. And they proclaim it loudly with insults being thrown in as a surrogate for the power they actually don’t have.

Nah, all kinds just get in between the cracks. Many can be left out without any detrimental effect.

Anger, insult and self-righteousness are not required to a fully functioning system.
These conditions are not always permanent. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses.
I'm more with Tim on this one, takes all sorts to make the world go 'round.
This place is pretty darn tolerant.
Calling it out was the right thing to do.
Maybe he and others will think for a second about whatthey are posting next time themselves into a dither about someones elses 'mistakes'.

Exactly. And that is exactly why the country is where it is. Mutual respect for being a human being is gone. I’m not sure how it happened, but it happened. And like you said, without respect, there can be little to no common ground to have a respectful and educating discussion

I don’t even know what stirred this and frankly, don’t care. Bottom line is like Dave said, respect is generally lacking. Not just here, but pretty much everywhere

I completely agree. It didn't show respect (typical), and beyond that, it wasn't asked for. I'm not sure what was being asked for - maybe sympathy - but that's why I didn't even look at it until I saw your post here.

So I spent the day planting my garden. On the hottest day we have had this year. That was a mistake. Actually got a sun burn, which I haven’t had in many years years(usually I don’t burn, just tan dark). But anyway, 12 hour day at work tomorrow so I’m out .

Guy's car was rear ended a year ago. Went to a lawsuit, now that its settled, he posted a a thread about getting hit. Someone decided to tell him that he shouldn't have accepted that it was a 'totalled'. In the course of this 'help' called him a moron.

82 forecast for tomorrow. Frost on monday and record breaking heat 3+4 days later.
