I’m thinking about just that. I’ve got 4200 in army funds to use for training starting 1 October
exactly. I wish I’d known that they would pay for stuff outside of college degrees sooner. Do you know how many certs I would have by now?! Hell, I’d have a cert in Jedi Master nowHeck yeah... you did PMP .... now do something practical

I enrolled in the Ornamental Iron class at our local community college at about 50 years old
. The looks I got from the other students were classic 
. The instructor had a really good reputation that covered more than just our area. He had specialized tools in the shop there that I had never encountered and I wanted to give them a go. After a couple class nights he said "You've done this before, haven't ya?" "I've been gas welding and brazing since I was like 12, stick welding didn't start till I was about 20."

MIG welders were just too awkward to drag around the rock farm . I've still never tried TIG, didn't have the equipment for it at work. Not too often you have to weld aluminum around a rock plant or .095 wall tubing in a specialized application.

11,604 steps today. I call BS. Half of those are bouncing around on the rider.
My Esab Rebel multi process welder is nice, but tig lift arc, tough for a beginner to figure out.and its only dc. Stick welds awesome though,mig is good, but too many damn settings. The auto set feature is unstable.

it seems to me the MiG can be easier to get the welds down without overheating the sheet metal. You tell me if that's really true.
On the other hand, whatever I've done is with OA and I sure struggle with getting the stiches down without warping the area.
