Morning all you early risers. Have several instructors coming out today to make sure all their junk is dialed in. They are doing a Woman’s Spartan retreat in March. Looking like around thirty Women all armed with varying degrees of experience. It is a super cool event. Sorry guys no males allowed. Basically it lets females learn all kind of shooting skills in a zero pressure non competitive landscape. Complete with a female instructor. Plus a couple of additional helpers like myself. They camp onsite we feed them here at the range and they get to bond and do all that kind of stuff.

We darn sure got room for that, one of the ways we thought to offset the cost was to set it up and rent it out as part of a range package for families. Spend the weekend on the range lodging provided and as much or as little training as you want. We have a dozen places to park one.
That’s really awesome that you offer that John. So many women are intimidated by firearms and even more so when men are around. It’s great to have a place to feel comfortable with other women learn at the same time.

It’s headed this way next week
I replaced the battery on my whole house generator about a month ago. It is set to run its weekly test and this week it did not come on. The Battery seemed weak, I put on the trickle charger and it took two days to fully recharge. I think the generator battery charger is not working correctly, a common problem from reading and I am sure it has never been replaced. Supposed to get up to 40 today, so I will pull the panel and test it. A new one is $190, so not bad, easy to diagnose and replace........................
first three days next week 16,18,16 for the high, then back up to 29..............................
maybe some more snow this Sunday.............................I am done with winter already.
I'm looking ahead to 26th 27th and hoping I don't hit any passes when it's snowing, looks to be clear on route at this point (Reno to Oak Harbor)
What if I identify as a woman for the week? Can I attend?

It is just an amazing process as you watch them bond and develop their skills. I start the weekend with a simple drill so I can assess their individual skillset but more importantly it lets each woman create a baseline for her own reference. Then at the end of the event I run the drill again, it just fills them with confidence and appreciation for the work they put in over the two days when they see the dramatic improvement on the drill. It is a takeoff of a drill I teach when training security Teams during force on force training. Invariably I get “a guy” who engages at forty yards. By letting them see the day before that they need to close the gap to be effective with a handgun. In theory when we go force on force they reflect and remember to close the gap. It’s not TV ya know.
