I was able to keep food down if I could get it there. Because surgery was right at my throat, had slight swelling around area. Had to be careful for a few days. Still not 100% Just glad to have the collar off.

Or Tree rats….which is only fair since cats are called ditch tigers, and raccoons are called trash pandas, coyotes are song dogs, armadillos are possum on a half shell. Gotta love the South! I could go on and on!

My Viet Kieu friend Thao goes home to Utah today. He is from Vinh Long city but has lived in America and worked for 30 years for a window corporation and then retired. He usually comes to Vietnam once a year about the same time as me. He is a skinny little man. Probably only weighs about 100 lb soaking wet. And since I've known him, I've discovered that he doesn't eat well. In fact, he hardly eats anything because of the want for the beer high. I do worry about his health and talk to him about trying to eat more all the time. Met him a couple of years ago at a cafe here. But he is a lot like Karls friend who drinks too much. He's okay in the morning when we meet for coffee, then he goes on about his day as I do the same. In the evenings we will meet at a beer joint nearby. He can't go far from his house because he only has a bicycle. But by the time I meet him in the evenings he has probably already drank six or eight beers or more. He is rude, angry and obnoxious when he gets drunk. I got to the point where I really didn't want to meet him in the evenings anymore. But I met him last night since it was his last time here and we drank beer and we went to the Karaoke joint and sang karaoke with a couple of young girls. It was fun.
