Stop in for a drink.

The issue with Bud is that they use primarily rice grain which results in higher levels of Acetaldehyde. That is what causes the headaches and off flavors.

While other large scale made beers may contain some rice, the Acetaldehyde levels remain low so that the flavor isn’t affected and the resulting headaches are avoided.
Not a heavy beer drinker I like the home brew beer best.

Methanol is nasty stuff as well. In distilled spirits it is thrown out but in beer and wine it stays in. It is a small enough quantity to be safe but can cause headaches. There is more methanol produced with fruit based products.

Methanol is nasty stuff in beverages. Mostly comes from woody material sometimes found in the ingredients used for the fermenting process. Hence it’s name...wood alcohol.

We are heading back home, Hill Country Texas, after a week in and around Pebble Beach Cal as my wife is an avid golfer and we met in college in 1984 in San Luis Obispo. I am in the last hotel room near the San Jose airport sipping a Bulleit rye Old Fashioned, well more that one. A great trip but happy to get back home with my cars and guns...

Think about this for a minute. Bearded and Bored hits the nail on the head.

The ?? marks at the bottom, usually about 22%.
Manuel would get his grapes from whichever vineyard had a surplus.
Got his bottles from the Elk's lodge recycle bin, he had the technology to sterilize them.
Good ole Portugee wine.
Not for the timid.
Always did favors for he and his dairy at the rock farm, always repaid at Christmas time with Chateau Dutra.

Whiskey club tonight. Single malt Highland Scotch tonight. Should be good.

Some very smooth bourbon that I had in New Orleans a couple years ago. I pick some up once in awhile.
They had a bourbon tasting there, and Angels Envy was picked over and over for its smoothness and taste.
Bourbon house on Bourbon street. They had a incredible selection of bourbon.

Hey, I’ve been there!

At least I think I was. I remember walking in...but don’t remember walking out.

 Is that a liqueur or a licker? :D
I didn't "lick" the inside of the Glencairn but I didn't let any go to waste. Cedar Valley Malt Manifestos is the name of our group. When you join, you get a etched Glencairn glass. Here's one of mine with my initials on the backside.

Next month's sampling. I have the history of all our picks if you all are interested.

Tasting at my house. Dennis stopped over with some goodies. Party on Garth! The 2 Whistle pigs are Barrel picks. They print your personal label and put it on the back.

We had a few rye samples and quite a few were Whistle Pig. Good stuff. Although the ryemageddon was exceptional. Imagine the greatest whiskey you have ever tasted and multiply that by 10.
