Street Outlaws = Reality TV? Busted again

-
What's the upside here??

What i see as downsides are:
-risk of death due to a ill-prepped stretch of pavement
-risk of going to jail
-risk of having your ride crushed
-risk of having someone crash into your ride
-& last but certainly not least, the number of misc. risks that go with being in compton at 2am with an expensive car.

it's a scripted "reality" TV show, there is no upside. It's merely entertainment based on bullshit.
I watched the first episode of the show, pegged is as BS, and haven't watched it again. I gather from the comments here, and the link about, the show, pilot was the best of the series, and it was pure garbage.

I thought it was "animal planet" that did the mermaid thing. lol

Its such a sad state of affairs when what use to be a science channel is now a lowest common denominator channel.

Since Discovery owns Animal Planet, Destination America, TLC (The Learning Channel... with cupcakes and a mom using her kids for money, that's an oxymoron) and a bunch of others I've seen it aired on all the Discovery Channels.

According to the female state trooper in the video, it is illegal. The State Highway was not informed by the local police nor approved the activity so therefor it is illegal street racing. :D

I think I'll shut the TV off and go work on my car. That's reality! tmm

I watch it strictly for the the car tech (which there isn't much of) and the launches, and my brain filters out all the other BS as a waste of air time.
Don't give a squat about the fake drama, arguments, call out's or any of that crap.
Don't even care who wins.

I just can't bring myself to watch it, it is pure stupidity IMO.

I did try, once, and that was enough for me.

man you guys are a bunch of stiffs. You just gotta take it for what it is. I enjoy watching them trying to get these cars to hook. that and farmtruck and Asian are funny as hell.

They cant put REAL reality on TV. Not enough ratings with Tech. and wrench time. they gotta get people to watch so they throw in all the drama and garbage.

Most Tv and movie sets wont let reporters in .They are fullb of dookie anyways and dont know what they're talking about. They just babble.Just watch Cnn msmbc fox ect...

I meant the video that I quoted. That is legitimate street racing and there is a culture of car people who street race at "compton raceway" late at night.

I just don't get why they do it. Same for up here in the bay area where people race out at "Oakland speedway".

Nothing sounds good about racing illegally in a bad part of Oakland.

ah ok. I dumped cable a long time ago, so i had no idea they push their idiotic gibberish on multiple channels.

TLC....with honey boo-boo. I suppose that's learning how not to be walmart quality white trash??

I've watched Destination America a few times at friend's houses. It seems to be the real estate and paranoia channel. Every one of those psuedoscience monster shows will eventually involve the government. Whether it be UFOs, bigfoot, chupacabre, etc....the goverment is involved. lol

I'd LOVE to dump cable tv right in the trash where it belongs, but the Wife likes HGTV.
You know, the channel that makes women unhappy with thier current life and home?
"how not to be walmart white trash" and that's about the size of it on that show.
Turns my stomach to even so much as hear those people speak.

The Sci Fi channel and dumbass ghost hunts taking over the programming, and wouldn't be so bad if they EVER found one.
Our cable service completely removed the comedy channel with Jon Stuart and Steven Colbert.

About the only thing I'll ever watch on cable anymore is the history channel, and I can get that commercial free on Netflix.

Plus the fact that the cable internet here has been AFU for 3 months now because of thier supposed upgrades, but the bill doesn't reflect AFU service. (still 60 a month and I own my own modem)

I say piss on em, and I'll sign up for the fastest DSL service in the area.

All of TV is entertainment, but "reality TV" is programming that is an outright lie. We already know most shows on TV are make believe, but the "reality" shows try to make out like they are real, when they are the biggest façade on the air. That's the problem I have and why I won't watch any of them. You want to watch racin? Go to the drag strip. That way, you'll actually be getting out and doin something.

I think it's awesome. Reminds me when I use to do a lot off street racing, when I was younger. We did the same thing. Just did not hang at the starting line. Cars on trailers, racing in the same area 11 at night to 3 in morning. Great times. It's TV guys

HAY!!! dont say something bad about Oklahoma, with out saying something bad abut kansas!!!! do you think one of those cars would pas a NHRA safety inspection? what think?

man you guys are a bunch of stiffs.

Sorry, no. What is is about is openly promoting activity that WILL GET YOU thrown in jail, and in some states, your ride confiscated, or at least towed.

And what started this thread turns out to be what just might be illegally shutting down an interstate highway to benefit..........Horrywood profits

LOTS of stuff is entertaining. Hell, watching people going to the electric chair might be entertaining to some, that doesn't mean it should be on TV
