Supplements for better sleep

-
I use Melatonin, Equate Sleep-Aid which is Diphenhydramine, and/or
Vicks Pure Zzzs with Chamomile and Lavender. The melatonin will make you dream goofy dreams. The Diphenhydramine may make you a bit groggy the next morning, The Vicks stuff helps you go to sleep but isn't strong enough to keep you to sleep. Between my joint pain and my sinuses, I never sleep all night.

It doesn't matter what I take, I sleep like a rock as soon as my head hits the pillow for 4-5 hours.
I sure wish I could get at least an extra hour or two, but nothing works.

I’ve tried most of that crap and at best it half assed works.

If I start having trouble falling and staying asleep, I run down to the local dope store and buy some Richard Simpson oil.

Then I use that to make a batch of cookies.

One 1.5 inch cookie will make me sleep all night. Usually by the time they are gone I’m back on schedule and don’t need them any longer.

It’s been 5-6 months since my last batch.

I tried it all.
I don't think a shot or two would help, I don't dare get into that habit again.
4-5 hours and then I'm wide awake and not by choice.

Yeah, I don’t do the alcohol thing. But using RSO in cookies is a way to do non narcotic sleep aids.

My doc won't help me until I go down for sleep observation, I told him it won't work cause he'd have to give me something to go to sleep knowing someone is observing me. lol

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that.

I got my CPAP in mid November. I never sleep without it. Not even a nap.

That changed my life.

If your doc wants you to get a sleep study DO IT. I didn’t think I was waking up at night but I was. A lot.

For years my sleep patterns have been horrible waking up every hour or two sometimes falling back asleep but most of the time I would have to read or toss and turn for an hour . I could actually feel it aging me I tried lots of different supplements with no real success falling asleep is not a problem but I would wake up an hour later and the cycle would start again. Lately my wife has become very nutrition oriented and we have removed processed foods ,white sugars a lot of crap that we eat everyday out of our diet. It has made a big difference no more donuts candy bars and very little high processed foods. I lost 10 lb in less than 3 weeks just cutting the crap food out of my diet and my sleep has been the best it's been in a long time. Diet is huge!

i found what i eat before bed ...hart burn wakes me -up ..so no drinking or bubbles
then if i nap i'm not tired enough to sleep threw the night
and not just going to bed not tired enough...sometimes staying up a little longer i sleep better
and having the wife sleep in a different room ,she has a completely different sceadule

Good thing I'm retired I often take a 20 min snooze mid afternoon. When you only sleep 5 hours you need to make up for the loss somehow.

WOW! 20 minutes! my "naps" are 45 minutes....maybe 1 or 2 or 3 of them together at one time. then I go to bed 15 minutes later than usual and still sleep till 6 or so. wife said she will have to hold a mirror under my nose some day to see if I'm still alive.
