hi, the TA head does not have bigger ports!!! they measure same volume as a regular 340 X or J head. pushrod hole was moved , so you could make port bigger. I have had a set on the flow bench, flows same as a J head. I looked up port volumes on NHRA site, volume is same as X and J heads. just food for thought.
I didn't read where anyone said they have bigger ports or more flow in stock form but was mentioned in a ported alternative.Or what you "could" get out of them over other heads.hi, I looked up latest port volumes, the 894 X head is 167 & 76 cc. T/A head/915 with 2.02 valves is 163 & 76 cc. 587 is 162 &70 cc,308 is 162 & 70 cc. just food for thought

I agree totally in a cost aspect. You could probably build a strong motor for what a set of six pack heads go for if you can even find a set that doesn't need a total rebuild.just clarify the air.... unless you have an AAR or TA...I would not waste my money on them...JMO
Ok. So if these heads don't have bigger ports as some claim and they flow nothing more than a set of "J" or "X" heads. Then why did chrysler make them so different for the 340 and not just install a set of "J" or "X" heads on the T?A challenger's. If one owns a T/A and they are trying to restore it back to original can't one just put a set of plain "X" heads on his motor and be done with it. They are very hard to find.
