Talk me into or out of Holley Terminator X

On small block or big block? If it was a small block, did you have issues with the windshield washer motor and distributor?
Small block, no issue with wiper motor but I got lucky as my car is RHD! Did change the rotor to an MSD adjustable type unit to get phasing correct as this was an issue with early PF4s which I believe has now been corrected

Just from what I have seen and heard because I have been watching the subject for years.
They cost quite a bit.
They very often never actually run right.
They often don’t last a long time. (Failure rate)

I spent that money on AC. :D

Ahem. A/C.

I can't justify a fuel injection system to myself, even though I do want to try a coil near plug setup. I know carbs + coils near plugs is somewhat Frankenstein.

Call me weird.

Honestly, ignition probably matters more than fueling, so I don't think that's too weird. Having really good control of your spark is going to make for a better running engine. You can vary fueling quite a bit and engines still tolerate it pretty good. Get your ignition too far off and it becomes fairly evident.

I am old school also, I grew up on carbs. But the drivability of EFI is awesome. A couple of summers ago I put the Terminator X on my 5.0 1982 Mercury Capri. They say self learning, but it drove so much better after having it professionally tuned. Last summer I Purchased the Terminator X system for my 1972 Duster with a fresh, fairly healthy 340 engine. I have the Edelbrock Super Victor intake, along with Holley 30 Lbs injectors and Holley dual sync distributor, & FAST 4150 throttle body. Hoping to have it up and running by summer. I did ditch the 4-speed for a Tremec 5-speed, it’s already installed in the car, just putting the finishing touches on it. This should make it much more highway friendly with the 3.91 gears!

Most of us agree driveability is improved with after market FI. The problem is when it don't start is the major concern. Where is the problem? If it's the ECU, you have to send it back to the factory. And hope fully it fails in your garage not on the road.
