The plug is too hot. You are using too much fuel. See it all the time.

Fix the heat range first.
Then set timing.
Then correct the fuel curve.

why not if you have the cash to do it
but that doesnt help me much give part number that I could order new plug
I pefer coper (less expensive,ok with nitrous)
ngk and champion in second

With that compression it would probably go faster with pump gas. My motor made 10.9 comp. motor made more power on the dyno on 91 octane.

dont care about the price but know coper are ok with nitrous so...

alwais ran coper and prefer them

I know copper will be ok but where I leave at the napa store
if you dont brinng the part number for those old car or modify
engine they dont help you much

I think they forgot how to turn page in a book
I send an email to NGK and they didnt answer or help at all

NGK plugs, hotter is a lower number.

BPR5 is hotter than a BPR6

NGK has a good site, not hard to find a plug on the site. Heck, use google. :)

so if I understand I was using (gr5 plug)the one in the picture
if I wanna have a colder it will be gr4??? mI right

Why use expensive race fuel with 10.5 compression?

I didn't say high octane, I said race fuel. I know guys in stock with 8.5:1 compression running race fuel and it is FASTER.

That's why I asked the OP what he ran.

EDIT: there is no way, ever that the CORRECT race fuel will make less HP than pump gas. PG will lose HP every time.

Justinp61 has a thread a few pages back and he dynoed his 434 small block and it made 30 more HP and more TQ on pump gas than it did on race gas. It was over 11-1 compression. My small block also made more HP on pump gas than it did in race fuel.

Who picked the fuel?

I absolutely have tested both and pump gas SHOULD never beat race gas. You don't need C16 on lower compression. You need the CORRECT race fuel, and the ONLY way to get that is to call the dudes who blend it.

sorry but that was a real part number

bpr5
bpr6
what I was running was ngk gr5
bpr5 should be colder than gr5 and bpr6 is even colder???

As I said, I don't do No Good Kind. I have no idea of their numbering system other than a 6 is colder than a 5.

If you want to, or have to run the NGK crap get an FR5 if you are on pump gas.

NGK = Comp to me.
went to NAPA yesterday

those guys are driving me nut

ask if they could give me colder plug

the answer was no they dont wanna sell me parts that could damage my engine?????
I endup buying one plug that an other parts store hade in stock (1 )
ngk (br6es)

what do you think of this plug is it colder than my gr5

The BR6ES is a Champion RN4. Are you in love with 13/16 hex plugs? Use a 5/8 hex and get into the 1990's.

The BR6ES is too cold for what you want.

The GR5 is a Champion RN14YC plug....again a 13/16 hex. WTH?????

So here is my suggestion because I'm done dealing with retarded plug numbers. If you can't make a champion work that is on YOU. It won't be the plugs fault.

Grab your balls and go back to the NAPA and tell him, TELL HIM LIKE A MAN AND THAT YOU WILL CHOKE HIM OFF, that you want a set of CHAMPION RC12YC's and you don't need his unwarranted advice.

Gap them at .035, then screw them in and tune up.

Don't let a moron behind a parts counter dictate what you do. WTF does the guy at NAPA know about tune up?

And, because I'm a super nice guy, with the patience of Job, and if you still think the No Good Kind of plug is all that and a fruit pie, you can use an FR4.

It can't be that hard.
