Cause it's too damn nice to make one. GEEZ.....................

Seems to me the price cheap, and they claim it's pretty rare (read on..........) but I'd hate to tear this up to make a flatbed out of it.

Even has the G.E. "pre prog" two way radio, LOL

1951 Dodge LaFrance Vintage Fire Truck - $2200 (Hayden, Idaho)

Looking for a fun restoration project? We've completed hundreds of hours of work over the past several years, but need to sell. When finished, this would be a great vehicle to display in parades and car shows. Also, would be a great mascot vehicle for your business!

- 6 cylinder, 331 cu. in. engine
- 4 speed, split transmission
- 3 ton chasis
- 750 gallon water tank
- 750 GPM water pump
- 6 volt electrical system
- 8100+ original miles
- Truck dimensions: length 24ft.-4in., width 7ft.-2in., height 8ft.-4in.

History and condition of truck:
Our research shows this is one of only two 1951 Dodge LaFrance fire trucks remaining of the six that were originally built. Six total were built for the U.S Army. Upon completion, all were put in storage. They were later offered to municipal fire departments. This truck went to Colfax, Washington. Four of the six have been destroyed or scrapped. The other remaining truck was last seen in southern California.

We have clean title in hand. The truck runs, is licensed and drivable, but not 'roadable' for long trips (meaning, you can drive it across town, but not on long trips in its current condition).

We took the truck down to the frame, and repaired/restored/rebuilt as we progressed. Top-end of engine was redone. Body work is done. All the lights work. Reel is on truck, with some hoses. Brakes are new. The fire pump needs to be rebuilt. The interior is original and needs to be restored. We have manuals, some additional parts and a couple gallons of red paint. We estimate truck is over 60% restored.

This is a great collector's fire truck project for the true vintage enthusiasts out there!

$2200 cash only!

$2200 I would build a flat bed out of it.
The weird thing is the photo's show two different trucks.
Sell the fire stuff and make your money back.

You sure? Or just photos taken at different times. Frankly I think it would be a shame to do that

I might............however.........be able to use the water pump for a dyno load.............

Hmm, wonder how it soundswith dual exhaust and glass packs. A friend had a 50 Chevy Firetruck and it had a straight pipe that ended at the pump. the exhaust blew on the pump to keep it from freezing over.

I know what "split" 6 cylinder exhaust sounds like.......and it sounds........GREAT. Those flatheads sound much different than an overhead.

Just noticed on the dash............2 speed axle, and 5 speed gearbox.

Have heard a couple chevy straight sixes with split manifolds, they sound sweet. Used to know a kid with a straight six ford with split manifold and straight pipes and it was not obnoxiously loud but you could hear it coming for a mile, it too sounded sweet. But never heard a flathead six with split manifold.
I always wanted to find a factory two carb intake and dual exhaust manifold for my 49 Dodge pickup, but never did.

I think this was a scam. It was removed.
