I just put the A999 behind my 360 in the 66 cuda. I was looking at the valve body and i see an electrical plug with 3 male connectors on it. What is this for? I dont remember seeing one on the 904 that came out of the car. Do i need this hooked up? Also what kind of tranny fluid should i use? thanks

that is probably for a lock up converter, can also be for a neutral safety switch, if it is for a lock up converter, your going to have to do something with it or you will have transmission issues, somebody needs to jump it about this, i never mess with them....

A 999 trans shouldn't have an electrical lockup for anything. If it's a 3 pin switch coming out at an angle on the left rear of the main case, it's the neutral safety/backup light switch. The center pin is the neutral safety and the outer two are for the backup lights if you decide to hook them up.

Lock up convertor trans have a smooth machined tip on the input shaft, non lock ups have the splines all the way to the end.

The plug looks like that one pictured. From what i am reading it is the nuetral safety switch most likely so do i need to use it? I thought my car has one already? If i do need to use it how do i connect to it and what do i connect to it? thanks

It's nice to have the neutral safety switch working if you don't want the engine to start in gear. Run a wire from the center pin on the switch to the connection on the starter relay if you want it functional. You probably already have the backup lights working. If it's a floor shift, the switch is under the console on the shifter bracket. If it's a column shift it's at the base of the column on the inside of the car.
