While I like the premise of building a 318 I don’t get sticking with a 2 barrel and little valves . You will probably have to buy new valves so why not go a little bigger ? And stock 4bbl intakes are cheap .
Plus ..all that custom work costs far more than buying parts and very few people are capable of doing it.
Should have ported the heads with a little larger valves , used stock crank , ported a TQ factory intake and decked heads / block for compression.
Then supertune the timing and an old Thermoquad .
yeah.. i could see this if they were say, building a motor for a certain class.. rules: no 4bbl, stock iron heads, stock intake.. then this would be a fun exercise to see what could be done.. but come on.. i don't see anyone that would ever do this kinda work on stock parts when even used stuff would have a better cost/time used gain.. When i got my 318 i went with new heads with a more modern chamber, things have changed in 40+ years..
