I want to save the upper control arm bolts on my '66 Valiant. But they are stuck and will not budge. Is there a special tool to push these bolts out? Any suggestions are appreciated.

spray down with pb plaster and while you wiggle the control arm, tap the ends of the bolts with a rubber mallet.

Spray them, but it'll be difficult to get a mallet in to tap them out. Once they move a little you might be able to get a screwdriver behind the inner cam and pry them. Chances are that they aren't in great shape and should be replaced. They are available new or some of us have tons of spares.

Try this... Block the upper arm upward as far as it can go. Attack the bolt from underneath with impact, socket, universal, spray penetrate. If you ever get them spinning they will come out.
I have had to burn them out with a torch and buy new ones.
Good luck

i thought they were hard to find...do you have a source to purchase new bolts?

I dont have the link handy but they are available. No doubt someone will steer you there shortly.

I had to use an air chisel with a punch type bit in it to get the rear bolts out on both sides. Lots of PB Blaster and pounding back and forth with a dead blow hammer barely budged it. Hit it with the air chisel and it was out in seconds. Don't forget proper eye and ear protection.

Moog K8243A is the cam bolt kit. $13.91 at Rockauto.com. You need a kit for each side.

sorry if this is a stupid question as i don't have an air chisel...yet! so , with the air chisel did you hit the head of the bolt or the threaded end to get it out?

I just pulled mine recently... I rocked them back and forth like they would be if you were adjusting them and the will work their way loose.

I sprayed with PB blaster and then threaded the nut on the end of the bolt to protect the threads. A couple of taps with a ball peen hammer and it was loosened up and came out with a little wiggling of the control arm. You can get the bolts at rockauto.com
