valve lash setting

I purchased a rebuilt motor complete less the tin. My question is without knowing the cam what is the lash setting I should use. It is presently set at .018 and .018 thanks in advance Brent

If it's got any of the three stock cams ('60-'64; '65-'70, '71-'80), then it's 0.010" intake and 0.020" exhaust, hot. See valve adjustment article.

You're welcome, but I don't understand the question. 0.010" is the factory spec for the intake lash.

Hi Dan I’m not sure what the cam is if it’s factory or been upgraded I bought the motor in crate with no information other then it was rebuilt

Adjust to factory specs and see how it runs; if it doesn't like those settings it'll let you know.

Factory cams taken factory specs. Some aftermarket cams will have their own specs.

I set mine at '018 and and '018 , oregone cams spec had it at looser , I've had no issue yet

Giving our friend, Dan all the respect he is due, I never have adjusted hot. I prefer not getting burned. They only change about .002" so that's not much. His way is the "correct" way, no question about it, but I just don't do it that way. It's personal preference.
