Frankly, "my gut" says this is a dead cylinder and not a balance problem

Until you do some actual diagnostic checks, we are all guessing.

Yea, me too.
Burned plug wires, broken plug, vac leak, a valve/s, plugged up fuel filter.
Something along that line.

Correction, it's ZE AUTOBAHN! Get it right! :violent1:

Glad it sorted out, approach these engines reverse of an audi or bmw they are basic, 'Simpel' engines to deal with.

No fear, my mech was beside to tell me if something is going really wrong to stop me...

Standing, no feet at the pedal, it was like a Harley-Davidson a little bit. It sounds as if you could hear every ignition.

Accelerating with pedal halfway-down you could feel a little shaking, as if a tire is out of balance. Not so much, but the feeling was a little bit the same. Also, the needle of the odometer was hopping up and down, dancing difference maybe 3 - 5 mph. It felt as if a part of the power was lost somewhere.

Accelerating pedal to the ground you could feel that the engine fights. The shaking became less, to a small but notifyable vibration. It seems that there was still some power missing.

At 100 - 120 mph the engine run totally smooth...



If it comes in at a certain speed/rpm, then there is something out of balance.

Kinda risky to run a car over 100 or even 80 MPH with a vibration....


Can you say, "Chernobyl"????
 
I agree with you krazycuda. The part number he gave for his tq converter says in the special notes that it has weights. There could be other problems like a dead cylinder but a tq converter with weights is definitely a problem!

So what the hell was it,why no resolution to this?
 
Hey Guys, just looked on Summit racing at the part he posted. In notes it says this converter has weights. WRONG converter! Stop running this car and change to the right converter. Converter is the problem
I think that’s what Summit told him to get, not what he has currently. To the OP: Did it ever run without this condition, or did you buy the engine/car like it is now? The motor could have the wrong harmonic balancer, flexplate or have been balanced incorrectly when assembled. That’s why I asked if it’s always been that way or just a recent occurrence. Does the shake seem like an imbalance or an engine miss?
