Visited with my engine block today....

All you'd have to do is divide by 8 and multiply by whatever number of cylinders you have. This whole argument is dumb considering how basic the math is. If you don't know how to calculate cylinder volume, ask a neighborhood 12 yr old.

Or grab a slide rule (only if you are old).

I held a little service with my half-built block today. Sat there and drank a beer, while I waited for it to finish assembling itself. Needless to say, I was disappointed in the results...

Have another cold one and see if the results are repeating, just to make sure it gets statisticly proven for future reference!

Was it a conjugal visit?

Yup. That's why I use it. It's good enough for NHRA

I DON`T USE IT BECAUSE OF THE NATIONAL HOG RACING ***. , BUT BECAUSE IT SEEMS THE MOST LOGICAL TO ME . And we all know that I`m kin to Spock !------

Geez this is an old thread... same story still don't have my block back.

BUT my heads are dome with new Manley valves, 11/32 guides, fresh 5 angle, skim cut on the heads.

The shop needs to borrow a SBM fixture to finish the block. They have a new Rottler CNC and didn't realize their new tooling would not work on the Mopar. If I had know that I would have shuttled the tooking 200 miles back and forth to get it dome... or even bought the darn parts!

Anyway I'll get my heads on Monday July 27th and bring them home. Stopped at Competition Products and we picked out some new 11/32 retainers and locks from the shelf... nice to be able to pick your stuff from hundreds of possible parts!

Granted...... I’m looking at a pic on my phone...... so it’s probably fine...... but...... do those locks actually fit these retainers?
The retainers look like they might be for 10* locks.

Yep they fit...7 degree. We pulled several off the shelf until we found one that fit.

The springs are LS7 but fit Gen3 Eagle head's, too. Came from Richard Petty Racing. Retainers have a GM application, too.

I'm going to see how they work on my long valve W2 head's. The Crower springs that were on these head's had an installed height of 1.9...these should be the same.

If this works I'll have about $100.00 in springs, retainers and locks. The PSI springs alone sold for $450.00 a few laps ago.

Budget friendly.

Edit... these springs willl work on an LS7 but originally were used on a Dodge NASCAR engine R5P7? Ran at Atlanta 2009 IIRC.

This is Gary the shop owner... he's installing locating dowels in the main bearing saddles on a John Deere engine. The Rottler is making circular cuts in the block with a very small cutting tool. Amazing what this machine can do.

Got my heads and valves today. They look good.

And I got my Richard Petty-sourced valves springs rated... might be a bit stiff for my needs right now.

Plus I shot a couple photos of the shop...

just set them up taller???
break in weth something else
These are dual springs so break-in will be a snap.

You found a good spring available from Lunati. I have one, too. Both fairly light at under 400# open. These are 190#/500#... sure as hell wouldn't have any valve float to worry about but pretty wimpy compared to what the 1/4 guys run...

Gotta think on this ..... again!

Ordered King bearings this week and they are in at Competition Products. I'll pick them up Monday in Oshkosh. I have to run that way anyway to take my quickchange in to get re-assembled.
