Water consumption and good health: READ THIS if you want to live!

Our water here is pretty good. It is treated with chlorine though. I keep a water pitcher in the frig. The chlorine seems to evaporate out.

<< disclaimer >> pee talk !

I frequently pee in a "brief relief" sanitary bag while out in the field (try using a customers bathroom, no thanks) and did an experiment in the winter time. I had a 16oz cup and used it to gauge how much I was tinkeling daily as opposed to how much I drank. 32 oz big gulp of diet coke produced 40oz of urine within 2 hours followed by another 12oz in the next hour, thats a 20oz net loss in 3 hours. I did the same with water and had a net gain (no loss) of 28 oz. Seems water really retains better than other drinks, but we all knew that. Even Gatorade was a net loss but its electrolytes make up for any water loss. Drink water!

How old do we sound ! Next we're gonna start talking about our weight , how much we love our wives isn't this about cars ,beer and all things bad for us ?

That's a piss poor comparison..........

Sorry fellas was just trying to make a funny ,

I OD'ed on water once. I was trying to flush thc out of my system before a UA. I drank a lot of water over a 12 hour period. It made me queasy and a little rummy. I could have filled up 50 specimen bottles. Yes I passed and probably would have without all that water.
I did too. Doc once prescribed amitriptyline ( only because I couldn't afford Paxil nor tolerate its side effects ). The amitrip' made me constantly keep a bottle of water in hand. About 2 weeks later I went into shock, thought I was dying. 12 hour stay in the ER getting electrolytes IV.

  1. - Drinking one glass of water before going to bed avoids stroke or heart attack.

Something else I didn't know ... I asked my Doctor why people need to urinate so much at night time.

Answer from A respected Cardiac Doctor: Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.

Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

Physicians say that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.

Mayo Clinic on Aspirin -Dr. Virend Somers is a Cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic who is the lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the night, When the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame.

Horse puckey.

Information is from an old chain email, and misleading at best. You can find it on Snopes
FALSE: Heart Attacks and Water

Snopes....Two idiot liberals sitting in a room deciding what is real and what isn't ?

The information you posted is from a chain email from 2010. Even basic knowledge of how a kidney works makes most of its claims dubious right off the bat. It has no quoted sources, the "respected cardiologist" is nameless, oh, and on top of that, the Mayo clinic disavowed the information in 2010. Didn't come from them or Dr. Virend Somers - Misleading Aspirin Email

Here's what the Mayo clinic really says about drinking water
How much water do you really need every day?

Here's what they really say about drinking water before bed
Foods and sleep

Here's ANOTHER source for you debunking the email and the myths it peddles, from a master's candidate at the University of Washington https://www.washington.edu/wholeu/2014/09/17/water/

Or here's a thought, show it to an actual doctor. Preferably one that's actually a nephrologist. Or yeah, by all means, believe some chain email you got that gives health advice. Hang on, Bill Gates said if I forwarded an email he'd give me a billion dollars, and some Nigerian prince is sending me a check to cash for him, gotta run.

Hey, I thought that I was passing along helpful advice. I saw it posted at FBBO first.
As far as Snopes, I get tired of people looking to them to legitimize reports or articles. During any political season, they get proven wrong enough to cast doubt on everything they do.
Thank you for those links though. I did check on them.
I would hope that anyone reading online advice on health issues would confer with an actual Doctor before taking anonymous advice as gospel.
I know that with any FREE advice, it is often worth it.

Yeah, now, about that Nigerian prince; I got a letter from him once too.................................

Exactly! :D

I have a glass water bottle at home, at work, in my studio/rehersal room and in my garage. I actually prefer water over soda. Now beer on the other hand, that's really nice too!

It has come to the point where I trust no one, especially doctors and the government when it comes to anything health related. There is too many idiots in the world. Doctors included. Look at the last 20-30 years. All the **** that is has been wrong.

Wine- good, then bad, good, then bad. Trans fat, the devil, then maybe not. Beer, good, then bad....

Moderation of things is probably the answer. Water, better for you that other crap. Kind of common sense.

WATER ?????? Do you realize what fish do in that ????---------------EVERYTHING !!!!!!!!
Yote

Sometimes hard liquor keeps me awake if I imbibe before sleep... Vodka and Kool-Aid, good stuff ...
