It does if it's leaking.-- Does the water flow around the threads and/or between the threads and the head of the bolt (outside of the water pump) ?
-- Where I'm coming from is sealing just the threads (post #2) wouldn't stop the leak. -- Are you saying use RTV on the total bolt ?-- It does if it's leaking.--

-- OK - Thanks.-- Sealing the threads will stop the leak. If it does not, you will have to tear the timing cover off and re-seal it. But seal the threads first --
I will bet it is the lower one, by the water pump pulley. It's my mock up picture from last year. But I know the bolt you are talking about.

-- Yep !! -- ---- I will bet it is the lower one, by the water pump pulley. --
Who else but me would mock up a front of a engine on a piece of plywood. Lol
To seal it, you will need to drain the coolant, take out that bolt, dry it off, put black rtv on the treads, put bolt back in , let it cure over night, and fill up the coolant. It wont leak. Like RRR said.-- Yep !! -- --
Wooden know.Does it run good? lol
-- Yep !! - They can be a PITA.-- Mine leaks every time I tighten my ac belt --
See, that is wrong....Teflon tape is not made for that application. It is for pipe thread.Put some Teflon thread sealant on all of the water pump bolts, not rtv.
