well.....Fred has been reduced to an organ donor.

While Josh was at school today, I put some oil in Fred , fired him up and limped into the garage so Josh can start the harvesting of savables. It is damn hard to look at. Keeping a tarp over it so my wife doesn't have to see it everytime she opens the door. Just every 3rd time.

Fred 2.0 might be coming home this coming weekend, pending weather. 5 hr run one way from northern MD, heading south-ish. Does NOT need floors, frame, roof, fenders, doors. We shall see.....

Crossing finders it checks out good when you get there.

Really hope so. Older dude with 2 Dusters, 2 Darts and this one he is selling because it's a Duster-Sport hybrid he started building but knows he'll never finish. Most of the trim is there and we agreed on well under $2k if we like it enough when we get there, because he wants to help the kid get back on the road. He's old enough that he starts talking in cricles and off on tangents. Final price to be determined based on what it really is and if it follows us home.

Welp.... No Fred 2.0 today. Dude says they got 4-5 inches of snow into friday morning, so he can't drag it the 300ft up out of his yard. Doesn't want me driving thru his yard to grab it with my recovery rope. Knowing I was coming, I don't know why he didn't drag it up to his driveway Wednesday evening. Maybe he was too busy, I don't know. He did say that I could pay for a wrecker to come winch it out from the road. Yeah, I'm not paying for his tow truck guy......
So we've got our feelers out on 2 others. We shall see.

I wouldn't think thats enough snow to prevent a car from being pulled 300 feet??? Maybe cause its down south its some type of major ordeal??? And you even offered to pull the car out with your truck and he said no???

Yes, very hard to look at, so proud the driver is already thinking of the next build and is healthy after this day, he will never forget it.

Yep. Told him I had 65ft of winch line and two 30ft recovery ropes, so I wouldn't have to back but about halfway to it. Guess it wasn't meant to be.

Sounds like he didn't really care to sell it or over reacting to moderate snow. Thats not enough snow to prevent car from being moved through a yard.

So I'll make a new thread after this weekend, when we get it home. Fred 2.0 has been sourced. Some of you may have seen this on marketplace. 75 Duster. 95% complete running slant 6 car. Located in Summerville SC. Previously sat in a Georgia garage for about 20 years. Talked to the seller in detail on the phone last night. Felt like I was talking to myself.

Yeah. Talking with the guy, and the detailed pics he sent me, very small patches behind the rear wheels, and about a 1 inch spot of pinholes in one floorboard. The frame rails are amazing. Was a half vinyl top car, says roof and window lips are great.
We are committed either way - just hope it lives up to the hype.

Stay tuned and watch for the new thread next week......
