What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Passenger side, complete. Now I'm going to change out the master cylinder in a few weeks. I have much to do in the next few weeks so I will not be able to work on it.View attachment 1716375615
I had some time this weekend and bled the brakes. Polished the "new" wheels and will install them soon... Vacation at the end of the week so it will have to be after that. Then, take it for a spin as long as winter over!

Today (as I wait on my cam shaft and lifters) my trunk area needs a vacuum and cleaning, yesterday I did hook up my trunk popper relay and mounted on my battery box, so today it's a bucket full of clean water and sponge, pull the spare and clean under it as well.
Put needed tools and spare back in.

Just another sunny morning on the hill here in northeast Arkansas

dropped off another load of parts to go with the car for media blasting. Still need to finish the strip of the dash tonight and drop it off tomorrow. Took measurements off the original drive shaft to confirm some things and order a yoke for the differential. Waiting on a handful of parts for the rear end rebuild once the case and housing are out of the media blasting. I am also trying to source some original style connectors to do the 4-way flasher wiring.

Thanks Memike! You know, he gets in here... its like the Hotel California.. check in anytime but you'll never leave! lol. Kudos to you getting your son involved!
He has been a member a few years now, but just started his first mopar build, he has a 440 on a stand now the old man has been baby sitting for 25 years. He took me to go look at a Charger for him he was interested in, I was all for that ! So road tripped about an hour and a half away , he found a jem, zero rust, solid bones true 73 big block Charger, the boy got very fortunate (i don't believe in luck) and made the deal.
He has put in the work, all new front break lines bearings shooting match front and rear, new tank, ... shoot I am rambling on.. yep, he loves it .

Been working on a couple of cars today (for several days, actually). First, getting my 63 Valiant convertible ready for a show this Saturday. First show it's been to in years. Been sitting a while, too. First had to siphon the old gas out and put five gallons of fresh in. Then had to pull the carb top off because it was getting fuel to it, but not inside it. Turns out the needles and seat were sticking. Put new ones in, started and ran fine.

Back brakes were near locked, so took them apart.

Figured I would need to rebuild the wheel cylinders. Just in case, though, I ordered new ones from Amazon a few days ago. Good thing I did, because the old ones were nasty - probably nastiest, most corroded I've ever seen. New ones will be here tomorrow.

Finally, I'm getting ready to put a new cam in my 67 Barracuda. I put together the short block back in 91. The .450/.455 cam I put in was a good one then, since it was a low compression cast piston motor with an MP dual plane intake, stock heads, stock 340 exhaust manifolds, stock torque converter, and 3.23 gears. Now have an RPM Air Gap, Indy LAX heads, TTI step headers and 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust with X pipes, Turbo Action Hemi torque converter (11 inch) and 3.55 gears. Ran 13.05 at 106 last summer. New cam is .488/.491. Still have the low compression cast pistons, but hoping to get in the twelves. Waiting in the wings is the makings of a 340/416, but I may put that in my 65 Barracuda and then build this 360 closer to right.

Thanks Mike! And yeah, that transmission is stayin in the truck this go around. I ain't messin with it's BIGASS. It's heavier than a NP435. It's a beast.

The newer they get (Ford's that is) the truer that is
Had to put brakes on the daily driver 12, 1/2 ton Dodge after work. Only 70k on the ones I took off.i got my use out of the old ones
..
Might have gotten another 1500 out of them and then it would have been scrape city.
Had a flat on the way home from work last week, fixed it (pulled it apart and patched it, I don't plug them) and having access to the tire machine at work helps a ton.
Finally put the repaired tire back on along with the brakes.
I've had pads under the seat for both ends for at least 6 months. Went with Bendix severe duty.
Got a deal on those from rock auto.

This morning I thought for a few minutes I wasn't leaving the driveway. Backed out about 3 feet and it acted like I hit something. Pulled forward and tried again, this time I got about 8 feet backing up and it did the same. Pulled up again, and on the 3rd try I got out of the driveway.
I found out when I pulled the L R rotor why.
One of the parking brake linings fell out.
It had been wedging itself into the front shoe when I tried to back out. I didn't have parking brake shoes on hand but I won't have that problem again. I'll have to get a set before camping season starts I guess.
I HATE HATE HATE chrome capped lug nuts.
I had 2 of them spin on me as I pulled the wheels. I went to O'Reilly's to get some and they want $12.49 EACH LUG NUT!!!! No that isn't a fat thumbs misprint. I went to AutoZone about 2 miles away and they had the same thing but they also had a card of 4 for that same amount. Real chrome, not capped. I got 2 packs for now. $3.something a nut is better than $12.49 for one. Gonna try RA when I look for those park brake shoes and hardware, maybe eBay.
