What do you think about this cam

-
Well...say what yall want but here's my TRUCK engine.

.030 over 318
Magnum heads-unported
Blueprint 9.3:1 with stock replacement 4 eyebrow 318 pistons
Hughes 1110 springs and matchin retainers
This cam: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-60403/
This intake (but unpolished): http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PFS-55025/
Long tube headers
800 Thermoquad

You build what you want to, but my **** is gonna sound badass and run the same way for a 318 in a old truck. And before you say it'll have no bottom like a idiot, consider the A833 OD behind it with a 3.09 first gear. Couple that with the 3.55s in the back and that's a 10.96:1 first gear. You can come close to that with a 904 that has the 2.74 low gear set. You can build your engine however you want to...but it will run much better as a complete matched package.

Whats the Hp and Tq output of the motor

So what exactly are we working on ?
Sounds like a 318 for now, with a 360 in the future.
Is the 318 in the car!or on a stand ?
You can wake a stock 318 up nicely with just some bolt ons. (intake, carb, headers, ignition).

Is it in the car or out ?

Got a real good recipe of bolt ons for a "stock" motor.

I don't know. He's been respondin purdy good so maybe he'll chime in. Hell, if it was mine and all I was doin was buildin on a stock motor I'd bolt on 340 stuff. I'm sure with today's more modern grinds you could do a little better, but you caint beat proven stuff.

Then I would go for something much milder than what I am going to run. Maybe Johnny Dart will chime in with his recipe. It's probably a goodun, cause he ain't stupid.

What's duration at .050 and the LSA? "268" can be pretty damned big at .050. I would look at something like 465 and 218 at .050. Wait for Johnny Dart to chime back in. I think he was gonna give you a good recommendation.

It will run fine, the 9-1 has a lot to do with it, however, since I have ran that cam, in a 9-1 318, I can say, that..... It won't make power until 2000+.

If that's your idea of a truck motor. :-k

I think your idea and my idea of a truck motor isa bit different, mine pulls tens of thousands of pounds. (how I know about where the useable power band in a 318 with that cam is)

Not arguing, just hope you don't think it's going to build any amount of low end.

Well.....here's the deal. I bought that on Ebay and it was misrepresented. It was represented and boxed with the paperwork as a 274XE. I got it and it is brand new in the box, but has "268H" stamped on the back. So.....I took it out in the shop and slid it in my block to measure the lobe lift. .302" just like the 268H, so that's what it is. I have tried to resolve it with the seller, but he's ignored me. I HATE leavin people bad feedback. I mean, it IS a brand new cam. He might have gotten it like that. Although I cannot imagine anyone not inspecting a cam any better than that, you know? Even so, he should have at least responded and he never has. Long as I can get my money back out of it, I don't care about makin anything. But before we cross that bridge, let's get a few more opinions because I don't wanna sell you something that won't work well for your motor.....but I think this will.

It's not completely smooth in a 318. Just like Comp's description. "Noticable"

Da beeotch will be turnin 2K in first gear fore it hits 10MPH. I wanted it to sound nasty. It'll pull good enuff for me.

Just 1 example here.
One of my favorite set-ups in a 70 Dart. Stock 2.73 peg leg, converter.
Stock 60,000 mile 318. Bone stock cam and all. Compression numbers checked out,so here is what I added. All bolt ons, except exhaust.

Edel Performer intake
Edel 600 cfm
340 manifolds/dual exh H-pipe.
Mopar Performance elec ignition kit.
Timing 12 initial 36 full advance all in at 2200 rpm.

No it was not an all out horse power stroker monster, but this teen was no slouch. It would lite em up all the way down the street.Really was a quick little street car.
Thing ran so good, a guy bought the complete long block for $2500.00 :D

I could do that easy and use it for the time being save money and we can start the converstion again when I get a 360.I would add headers tho

That would be your best bet. Then add cam and other stuff when you get ready for you 360. That's usin yer knoggin.
