71 Duster will weigh about 3200 pounds (w/o driver)

340 bored 30 over
10.5-1 pistons (about 9.5 acutual im guessing)
x heads with a little porting done to them
XE268 cam
torker 340 intake
eddy performer 750
summit headers with 2.5 inch exhaust
727 auto rebuilt with shift kit
either a mopar 175k convertor or something similar that stalls at 25-2800
8-1/4 sure grip with 3.91s
Indy Firehawk Tires 295-50r15s on rear about 26.7 inches tall

I built the engine almost exactly like they did in Mopar Muscle a while ago and they got 391 hp and 410 lb ft so I should be around there. I know I probably won't be able to get any traction with the street tires.

High 12's or low 13's with a decent hook-up. Could be quicker depending on the weather where you live.

with slicks and if you get the car dialed in right, i think mid to high 12s, how long do you think the 8 1/4 will last though. how far along are you?

The 8-1/4 is stout enough to take a 400 hp. I might get an extra set of wheels and a good set of drag radials to use when I take the car to the track because I doubt I will be able to get good traction with the Indy Firehawks.

With slicks, I would think you should be able to get into the 12s, maybe even mid 12s.

My Duster is lighter (3100 with driver), with a 360, same heads as you, smaller cam, dual plane intake, 8-1/4 with 3.91s, around 9.5:1 compression and a vacuum secondary Holley 750. With slicks a converter that only stalled around 2200-2500 I ran low 12s.

I think you could get into the high 12's. With proper engine/suspension tuning could definitely get into the mid 12's. Both are quite respectable, especially if you have a street car. BTW eventhough Mopar Muscle is a good mag. it's best to remember that the numbers they get are a best case scenerio, for the combo.

I was thinking like 8.65 you guys must be way off!! :joker:

Im gonna be the stick in the mud. 13.5s with those tires. (Ive used then, they dont hook) and low 13s with a good hook. You may sneak in to the 12s but I dont think mid 12s.

The motor they built in Mopar Muscle used a XE268H. It has more duration and lift then the Magnum 268. They also lost al ot of power when they tried the torker over the RPM. And they had a Eddy 800.

They also Dynoed it at Westech that always seems to have big numbers.

I think I need to do a what will it run post. :thumrigh:

Well hopefully I can get my car on the road and take it down the track. I'll let everyone know what it runs if I do. I might even take it to the dyno and see what the numbers are.
