If the secondary door is opening too quickly you need to adjust the spring on the driver side. It's on the driver side end of the shaft. You will see a larger lock ring with a smaller screw head in it. If you don't have the tool to do it you can use two screwdrivers. Loosen the outside ring and you feel it unwind and the secondary door will open. Turn the inside screw CCW as you are turning it the secondary door will close and go a little beyond that. You will have to move the outer lock ring with a smaller screwdriver to tighten slightly so to hold it then use a larger driver to tighten.

I'm still bettin' your running lean, you can use a small pair of vise grips and pull the metering tree up and clamp it and see if you are still getting the bog. If you are not then you need to adjust it richer. I went through all of this when I installed mine, but with help and experimentation it runs great now.

The secondary is opening too far. Limit the amount that it opens with the tang on the door. the less the door opens, the fatter the mixture on the secondary side. It needs more fuel. Try this site for tuning tips: http://www.thermoquads.com

A few questions... Who rebuilt the carb? What engine is it correct for? What exactly is your engine built up with? Youset the timing at 33°.. Was that total, with a light, what is the whole ignition curve set up like? Which distributor?

Rob from Georgia said that. LOL

?? to adjust secondary door, do you have to loosen the lock screw or can you just use a small screwdriver and turn the inner screw? Scott Smith-Harms did the resto. Ran perfect thru all the testing. This is a 800cfm for a 340, mild build but don't know any internal info, electronic ign., we set timing at 33 with a light.

You have to loosen the outer ring that locks in you're adjustment. I sent you a PM. Maybe Stroker will chime in a little he helped me with mine.
