What makes it a "specialty cam" ?

I was on Summit's website looking at cams for 318's .Comp has 3 small cams with a 206°-212° spec. The lift specs are close but the 20-300-4 and 20-302-4 are both "specialty cams" but the 20-300-4 has a 108° Lobe separation. I am guessing quicker ramps are the thing. It looks to me like the have combined 2 high energy lobes to me. 252h on the intake, and 260h on the exhaust.

Damn, A Chevy cam. LOL Comp uses a lot of Chevy lobes I bet.

Comp actually has many lobes for .904 lifters. The trick is know which lobe to use.

I think the comp hydraulic flat high energy (xe-hl i believe) mopar cams are designed for the mopar .904 lifter

The lobe catalog does not list any manufacturers. There are some violently fast .904 lifter profiles available, but they not stupid enough to make them shelf grinds and suffer the "why did my cam go flat? Must be the manufacturer" bullshit.

I run pretty close to one of their MM lobes IIRC.

Mike if you are looking for a nice cam , I am running a JEGS #555-200161 in the 273. I also used this cam in a 318 Aspen and a 360 Charger. Works well. Summit # is SUM6901 same cam. Just sayin'.

Correct. I was just looking through their lobe catalog and they have some real good lobes but some are so aggressive they need extra oiling to make them live so they don't use them on shelf cams, just something you can special order

I didn't know they were still around. I know they made the manual Transmission 340 cam in 68. I will have to look into that.

If you call Racer Brown (and I think you should...I'm using his cam right now) make sure you call him AFTER 5 PM eastern time. That's when he answers the phone. When you call, you talk to the guy who does the cams. JIm is his name.

Well its only a 274/283 at 0.050" so for what I normally make yes its a 3/4 race cam. HA HA HA

"3/4 and full race" was back in the day where a 300°/.500 was pretty racy.
