Just had my 1970 340 dart swinger engine rebuilt & painted for the first time, problem now is the paint on the intake is burning just under the carb on both sides. never had this problem before and the engine had 90,000 plus fun filled miles.Used mopar high temp engine paint. Also installed a clear fuel filter & after shutting down I can literally watch the fuel disappear from the filter, carb was also rebuilt. Everything on this was original until now.:snakeman:
 
That is the crossover for the choke. It was most likely clogged before the rebuild. Very common.
yep , probably it. Seems to be a small block thing. I have a 318 that has the heat crossovers in both heads completely clogged with carbon. If you don't want the paint burning off your intake, just block the crossover. Will help to keep the carb cooler too.
