Obviously these cars are priceless to us... but in the broader spectrum of the hotrod world, Dusters, Demons, Dart Sports have a reputation of being economy class rides. Obviously, even the 6 cyl versions are amazing machines in their own way but does their reputation hurt the value?

Assuming these cars are decent good shape, what does a typical A body "special" go for?

Are Slant 6 models worth anything?

I doubt I'll ever sell mine... but I'm just curious.

I've seen perfect 340 Demons and Dusters sell for $25-30K, most "drivers" selling in the $10-15 range.

I recently picked up a 17,000 mile 72 Demon with a slant six for $6500 and felt good about the price.

I'd put a clean early 318 car somewhere between these two examples.

The later cars, 73-76, obviously sell for less money unless they have interesting factory options such as the 340/360 engine, standard trannys or manual sunroofs.

Just one man's opinion... :)

Pick up the latest issue of MCG. Randy' editorial in the beginning talks about how we've hit the top of the price bubble and last years prices are higher than this years prices across the board. In my opinion this is a great thing. Then again I'm not in this to make a million bucks either. So I'd look for prices to either stay flat or come down a bit. Good thing is that the $1million Hemi Cuda may drop to $500,000 but our beloved $20,000 A bodies may only drop to $15 or $18. Basically the high dollar auction queens are going to feel the biggest hit.

Personally I'm just going to sit back and watch the prices fall with a cup of :coffee2: in my hand and a  on my face because it's only a matter of :clock: before the bubble completely pops! :violent2:

But what's kind of amazing is that other segments of the market are still reasonable or even cheap! I'm working on my 73 Dart sport and always keep an eye on prices in Hemmings and MCG. I can't believe how high the prices are for the later (68+) A-bodies but how low the prices are for the early mid sixties cars...A, B, + C-Body.

As an example we picked up a 65 Coronet 500 convertible in Aug of 06, 78K miles, 318 Poly, 727, garage kept all it's life, gold, new white power top, white interior, been painted once (but needs it again), the old lady parked by feel a few times but no major damage...just nudged chrome, and the car is 100% complete, and will purr like a kitten @ 70 mph all day long. I only gave $12,200 for the car. Hell I've seen plain 318 Darts and beaten 318 E-bodies priced higher than that! I just don't really get it. But I hope this bubble bursts so the rest of us have a chance @ some of these cars. And one of the biggest reasons for the huge prices...BARRETT JACKSON SYNDROME!!!

I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase a year ago after reading some of these. Picked up a clean '69 Dart on eBay. Only rust is a couple of pinholes in the trunk floor, new 380HP 360 crate motor, 727, B-body 8.75, new Autometer speedo, tach, and 4 other guages still in boxes, new B&M shifter still in the box, new 3" exhaust and mufflers. Has reasonable interior and new Maaco paint. Got it for $5300.
