I going to be making some changes to my Duster, when the weather gets a little warmer, in order to drag race this thing. I realize I'll have to make more changes after I see what I have. My goal for right now, is having a 12.00 sec. car.
I hear you guys rave about Caltracs, so I was wondering when would a racer make the change ? What would be a good 60 Ft. time for this goal ?

When you get to the point of needing to replace what you have,do the upgrade. Are there traction issues now??

I,ve been running 11.01,11.02,s best was 10.81@124.55 with stock suspension,my 60 fts have been 1.50,1.52.I have XHD leafs with an 8 3/4 with 4.30 spool.I,m adding Caltracs this winter to try and drop my 60fts down to high 1.3?low 1.40,s.If your running 12,s you should be fine with stock suspension IMO.Maybe check to see if your rear diff is downward -4,-6 degrees. Also what shocks are you using?Need more info on what you have done to your car.

I have the mopar rear performance shocks, they are supposed to be an extended length, but they are a gas type. What do you guys recommend ?

I measured them fully extended, from the mounting holes center to center, 24.5"

Shocks play an important part, but I think people are more interested in what springs you're running, what trans, do you have a pinion snubber, what size tire, how much power does your engine make? That should help.

Those MP shocks are junk if you try to use them with cal tracks.

My car currently has SS springs, and I was thinking, should I go to caltracs now or plan on it later. I think I'll take oldkimmer's advice and stick with what I have and make changes later on if I need to like Hemi-itis suggested.

I wish it was race worthy, but it's not. I don't know where I stand. I had put a crate motor in a Duster and just took it to the track to try it out on T, n Tune. The PS was touchy so I just thought I'd leave it in Drive and let it shift to see how it feels. I had no tach or limiter, with junk street tires and I'm new to this, and I hadn't done this since 74. So I made a few passes, but then it rained.

Didn't go back, my health and money stopped me for a while, but things have turned around and I want to do this thing while I still can. So I'm depending on you guys to educate me and I'll give you the credit. This is a good web site with Good people, with experience and knowledge, and I appreciate it and try to help when I can, also.

I know I have the right car for me. It's a Duster, and it's a pain, but I like it. It's a Mopar and it wants to fly. Just a 360 crate stroker 402 with a conservative 2800 convertor and 3.23 gears, TTI's, 2 1/2 EX., in a 340 car. I tell you, just a couple of passes down the QTR. and it went from a street car to racer, in my mind. Got to make changes so that's what I'm doing.
