-
Well guys. I think I haven't updated my status. As of this spring I am retired.
Got disablity for my back problems in may. Buy! The amount you get sure
makes it hard to make ends meet.
But one good thing. I get to keep an eye on my newest grand son 3 days
a week. Thats what it's all about! Family.
Anyway, get to go to some car shows, and finish projects around the house.
So far it hasen't drove me nuts. LOL!

I install flooring, port heads, build engines, and basically all general automotive repair...I also play drums in a band on the weekends and make an extra bill or 2 doing that.

The flooring job pays well and has short hrs that allots me the time/money to do the things I love to do=Cars/music

Before the flooring gig...I worked for L&L motor machine, goodyear, autopower machine, el camino rentals 'diesel'.

Autobody and paint tech for FoMoCo for years, owner operator automotive repair business in Cal for ten years, ATRA/ASE certified (auto trans certified) mostly BMW Mecedes and Volvo, Standard trans, Moved to AZ and own/tech an onsite computer service and consulting company for 12 years.
Self employed for half of my working life and support a family of four on one income.
Thats why I can sit here typing this, and also why I can't afford more stuff for my car.

But a least I get to drive a dart to do it now.:glasses7:

USAF here. I will retire in June after 22 years. It's been a great run! For some reason everyine loves the story of the job I had prior to the AF, and where I met my wife. We worked at Tambrands together. Yes, I made tampons....for $12 an hour 22 years ago. That was damn good pay when you lived in VT and still lived with your parents

I thought I'd tell you that I tried to drink your bar out of Coors Light one night acouple of months ago....You sir have a WELL stocked bar!

I could show you some serious beer and liquor bills. State law requires immediate payment on delivery for beer. I spend $4500 - $6000 on beer every week. I appreciate your attempt to clean me out. Feel free to try again! I'd buy any FABO member a drink if they come in. Ask for Greg.

right now i work at a chinese restaurant, hopefully that will change soon, to whaqt im not sure....

future plans/wants= hot rod/custom builder (own my own shop eventually)

Never thought I would get to the end of this thread, it is growing so fast.
Lot of engineers, mechanics and electricians on her. I guess I should not be surprised.

Now I feel less self conscious about all my stupid questions. I am a Graphic Designer/Illustrator/ Animator currently working in the music business at Universal Music Group in Santa Monica. Pay's not great, but I have lots of time to hang on FABO.

Also as I have mentioned elswhere, it is fun to pull the wagon into the garage past the Mazaratis and Bentlys in my far cooler Dart.

Awesome, great thread! I was about to start one, but figured there was probably one already going. I'm USAF, almost 5 years so far, fuel cell maintenance on JSTARS (surveillance aircraft, heavy). It was cool at first, but I'm trying to retrain, which isn't really happening at the moment unfortunately. Here's a video that was on Dirty Jobs. Different base, same exact job though. And I'm not really sure how they got a camera inside the tank. Yes, it's purged with air before entry, but air force wide, fuel cell is very, very strict about having ANY electronics that aren't intrinsically safe, even in the hangar with open tanks. Anyway, cool reading about all of your careers!

My regular occupation is owner/operator of a small hometown digital and offset print shop! I have been doing a couple days a week at the area Vo Tech School as a consultant to the Graphic Arts Shop. I am a certified "Oversize Load" escort, last Thursday and Friday I made a run from Pittsburgh, PA to the Illinois border behind a 140,000 lb. - 95 foot long rig hauling an 80,000 lb excavator. In my spare time, I do home renovations and handyman jobs - OH YES - I am working on three 66 A-Bodies!!! Two Barracudas and a Signet for the wife - I managed to make it to 12 Car Cruises/Shows this summer with another one this Sunday. Since I don't have any of the A's road worthy yet (buttoning up a 318 for the Black fish), my wife and I have been going in my 95 Daytona Violet BMW M-3 affectionately called Barney by my ADULT children. I think that covers it - them - whatever!!!!!

I am a production superviser we make plastic gas tanks for the big 3.I supervise 54 team members 3 maint's workers, trust me some day's full grown people acked worst than my 4 old grandson.

I am an IT project manager and R&D guy for a public school system.
Me and a crew of 8 maintain and install about 2000 switches, 600 servers and roll out new systems and applications (usually after I figure out how to do it). We're currently doing Win7, and will be starting a small foreign language app project.

Even though the guy that had this job before me now makes double working for a hospital, our governor thinks I'm overpaid and gave us a 3% salary cut on top of 4 years of no raises (and 1% 5 years ago), in order to give tax breaks to big corporations.
