Who else ever felt this way?

I have always (since I was 17 years old) had a daily driver which was super fuel efficient, and a Hobby car. The fuel efficient vehicle saved me enough to basically cover the Insurance cost of another car. At 17, and working at Winn Dixie, I saved and bought a Slant Duster for efficiency while I worked on my 360 car. Here are a couple gas savers that saved me a lot of cash through the years: Slant Duster, 2 Ford Escorts, and since 2014 a couple of the New Dodge Darts with the 2.0 4 cylinder.
For sure I mean if you work 5 miles from your house you could drive anything but you still need a road trip car. Back in their time 60s and 70s the slant cars were the economy car line .

Way back when . Dick Landy had a 600 hp /6 rail he broke a couple records with. I worked with a guy that drove 30 miles to work. One day took a rock through the oil pan no oil left when he got to work. He figured for the last ten miles he had no oil. Replaced the oil pan with no harm to engine.
Those things are bullet proof.

Some may remember car shows with a Slant 6 running without a oil pan.
It may have been for Slick 50 or one of those brands.
As a broke 16 year old a school teacher gave me a 67 Dart that she quit driving because of no oil pressure.
I drove that thing to work for 2 weeks only using Splash oiling till I pulled the pan and cleaned the sludge and pickup. Drove it for another year and traded it in for a 340 3 speed Duster in 1974.
Those things are bullet proof.
Sure as the day is long..

my dart is a slant ....its basicly all orginal and really kind of don't want to 340 swap it ....but figure i'n keeping the shop truck as a slant ...so at least i'll still have one in the fleet
