windshield

I need a windshield for my 65 Barracuda. Locally I was quoted $240 for the glass and $160 for the gasket installed. Is $400 a fair price. I see the windshield gasket for less and thought about ordering that and doing it myself after the paint goes on. What do you guys think?

Glass is tricky, one wrong move and you wasted a lot of money. Maybe see if they will use a gasket that you can provide and save a few $$$. If they crack your windshield while they put it in, they pay for it. Also, they will seal it up good and will probably have some kind of warranty against defects and leaks, if you do it you are on your own. I think that sounds like a fair deal.

I had a windshield installed in my Demon. Cost was $375. I thought about doing it myself, but thought if it leaks I have no recourse.

I just paid $400 for a 66 Dart W.shield installed(that,s about $260 U.S)took 1 day to come from Nova Scotia.I was amazed to even get one around here.It,s in and has the tint on the top which is O.K with me.So for me to get one installed that quick,made me very happy!
