The wipers on my '65 make a couple swipes and then stop for short time and does a couple more swipes. I bench ran the motor for 30 minutes with no problem. Does the s/w have Circuit breaker?
Is the circuit breaker separate from the switch?I believe it does
I believe it is variable because there is one click and then no other clicks as its turns fully.Like the headlight switch, it would be internal to the switch. Do you have the variable speed switch or something else?
Thanks for the idea. I lubed the linkage when I checked the motor a year ago. A strange thing happened yesterday when I tried the wipers. They kept working. Now how do you figure that? The circuit breaker is inside the switch and it is a strip of bimetal. It will crack in half and fail completely eventually. Learned that the hard way back in mid 80s.
I took the 67 variable switch apart and routed those connections out of the switch so a common/can type cycling circuit breaker could be attached outboard. Of course the linkage and pivots were serviced to stop the high resistance in operation.
Change in the resistance? Water inside pivot(s) lubricating the rust/wear? Who knows? Thanks for the idea. I lubed the linkage when I checked the motor a year ago. A strange thing happened yesterday when I tried the wipers. They kept working. Now how do you figure that?
