The center pin grounds when in park or neutral.
One wire from that pin attached to your starter relay ground terminal should do it. (Terminal 2 is the one to connect to)
That terminal on the relay has to be grounded for the starter to activate.
The center pin on the trans switch does that in park or neutral.

Ok, so here is another question....useing that pig tail NNCS31N, wired the way you said, will it operate the reverse lights, if not what do i need to do for those as they are not functional now. How they are new and wired into the new painless harness. That was easy...thanks guys...long live mopar

The two outer pins on the switch on the trans are for reverse lights.
Power goes to one (really doesn’t matter which) and the other goes to the reverse lights.
Basically it just passes power from one pin to the other when in reverse.
Wire it to full time 12v if you want the reverse lights to be able to come on without the ignition having to be on. (Like brake lights normally are wired)

Ok this is not the original transmission, not sure even which year it came out of. Gotta check that. There are two versions of the three prong switch. See pictures here

Build drawings show the three prong harness for the 69 Model Year, either from the beginning or starting Jan of '69.

'68 would have been built with just a neutral safety switch on the automatic transmission.
Part numbers in this thread.

The three prong switch needs the correct 'rooster comb" in the transmission.
So if its a 68 transmission, without taking it apart, just use a single terminal neutral safety switch in it.
Then the reverse light wires either get connected to a switch on the steering column or in the center console with a gear selector.
Ok, I know its an old thread but having similar issues here.
727 in a 68, using a 3 pin switch.
First Pin has 12 volt power
Middle Pin is wired to starter relay ground
Third Pin goes to the rear backup lights (terminal #6 on bulkhead behind kick panel)
When I shift to reverse the backup lights don’t work and pins show:
First pin still has 12 volt power
Middle pin is no longer ground,
Third pin shows no voltage
What else should I check to make it work?
