People are generally afraid of something they don't understand. Till this day when I go to shows I'm the only A at that event and sometimes the only mopar period! My dart is a legend at my high school almost 20 years ago. Even if people didn't know me personally they all remember the mope. It was hard for them to also forget the 100+ feet of black stripes I laid down outside the auto shop on a dare. Man I was a stupid kid! Oh and I guess dorky while I was dating the prom queen. Ha..

Does that make mine and other owners cudas a "Dork fish"??

I don't think "dorky" is a good description for an A-Body :poke:

At least they're still mostly affordable, unlike the B or E body cars :)

These cars were very useful for the Outdoor Drive-In's

I guess they could be called 'Dork-Porkers'

I guess it's settled.
Joey will have to change the name of the site to FDBO.com
For Dork Bodies Only .com

I'd say no, look up dork in the dictionary , but then a Barracuda might have something in common

It's the images of years gone by. If they weren't the hi performace versions of the cars, w/ the possible exception of the Barracuda, then think about who mostly drove these cars. Grandma! That's the problem! People still think of them as a practical, low budget car driven mostly by old folks. If you had seen one driven by a young person back in the day you might think "aah they got that car from an old lady." We know the whole light car big engine concept, but the rest of the world still thinks of it as a granny car. That's why we need to build more of them & show them wrong!

Exactly what I was thinking. There are many A Bodies that look really cool. They have been modded for drag racing or pro-touring or just cruising...but they have been modded. A "Grandpa Green" Dart with skinny factory tires and dog dish hubcaps will never have the appeal of a"Grandpa Green" SuperBee with skinny factory tires and dog dish hubcaps.
If someone would have told me years ago I would own a yellow Dart I would have told them thet were on crack. After doing B and E bodies for years this Dart (yes its modded) caught my eye. But, I respect anyone who likes to keep their car all original.
Some are just a little dorkier than others.:poke::toothy8:

A bodies are chameleons. In stock form most of them are granny cars. A simple wheel and tire upgrade, and you have a different animal.

Dusters and Dart Sports in particular just beg to have their rear wheelwells filled up.

Its like women, if we all liked the same one we would have to share. I dont share well and besides i like to be different the last thing i want is a red 1969 camaro like the other 90 percent i see at all car shows. I only see one 66 dart and thats mine. Thats priceless to me.

If Grandma drives a dorky Dart like yours I want to meet the ol' gal! She must be a hottie! lol tmm

Here are my thoughts. Back in the day, and ya I was there, there were 2 kinds of A bodies, there were "a" bodies and then there were "A" Bodies. Now there is only "A" BODIES. So, dorky?, maybe to some of the small & close minded knuckle dragers that would not know the difference between a hemi and a VW. Personally I like all the classics and I would not put any of them down, but I love the "A' Body

Ive made this exact point many times in different car circles. Get all kinds of opinions, thats for sure.
I always have a laugh because there were only 1043 Dart Sport 360's produced in 1975 and there were almost 1800 "winged cars" (Superbird/Daytona) made in 69/70.
Sure wish mine was worth what they are !!!

See? In my experience, those are the people who will think your car is cool just cause it's old. Now, they may think it's a chevelle until your correct them, but they'll still like it even after you do. It's the "car purists" that I usually see being all particular. They like about 4-5 different types of rare/expensive cars, and if you don't have one, well then why are you wasting your time?

Was at cruise in with scamp and 2 teenagers came up and asked what year Chevelle it was.......:banghead:

All Abodies look like nerd cars to me until they get some wider tires. Dusters and 1st gen Barracudas with skinny tires are a prime example.
