my hungry new stroker ! !

4.0 arm right? Is the tube bent straight up?

Sorry to hear this. You know that shrapnel is in there somewhere.

I'm trying to laugh. at this point tonight that might be all i have left to do :violent1:

4 in. arm- yes tube kinda strait ? I'll likely have two dipsticks in the future. One for dipping and one for plugging !:???:
I use a Milidon dipstick with my 410 stroker with no issues.Hope you find the rest in one piece.

Yeah, sucks to pull the pan but better to find all the parts and try to figured out what happened. Sure looks like the crank grabbed it somehow, so you need to see where it grabbed.

UPDATE - took oil pan off (not fun!) Still can't find the last 2 inches of the dip stick ?!?
In the lifter valley ? ? Well that's where I'm going tomorrow ?

How does this happen? Is it because the stroke is so long that with the incorrect dipstick it'll catch it while rotating? What's the likely hood of some real(aside from the dipstick itself) damage being done?

j par, sorry to hear this. Hope damage is minimal!

It's likely my lack of experience in dipstick angle knowledge is the likely cause:D
i imagine if one of those pieces got in between the cam and Lifter :banghead:
like a door stop #-o

Since you have the pan off, pull the pump and inspect the rotors etc for damage.

I have the oil filter and taking it to the machine shop to rip it open and see what we see. the Milodon pickup has a very fine mesh and I'd be hard pressed to think anything big got past it? I did have good oil pressure and all when I read it last unaware of the catastrophe going on beneath.

Hope you find the rest of it; that screen and the fact the pieces are large is going to really lower the likelihood that something is going to get sucked up into the top end.

I'd wager it's in the oil pump pickup. Look to see if it's wrapped around a connecting rod?

how could it make it into the lifter valley?

my guess and this is a total guess, is that the pieces once chomped up, flipped on top of the crank and connecting rods and flew up through the cam drain Valley and up into the lifter Valley?

That would be my "guess" as well.
Glad you found it all. I would still take that advice above and look at the oil pump rotors.
