I may be out of line but I just have to say something. Some of our members have been hanging around eBay way too much. The prices I see some members trying to get on parts are a shame. Don't we want these old mopars preserved or do we just want to rape and pillage? Can't we be a little more reasonable? $500 for a twice repaired grill? Not pointing fingers but really?

People have the right to ask what they want for their stuff. Everybody else has the right not to buy it.

Don’t like the price move on and find it elsewhere.

They can ask anything they want. If it doesn’t sell he is stuck with it. If it sells then it was priced ok.

so, can you get me a set of 69 valiant parking lights, for 30 bucks?

I can attest from selling over the years...this is not the place to list high dollar items. They just don't sell here for some reason!

Everything is only worth what someone will pay for it.

I don't usually sell to the open market but rather give stuff away or give ridiculous deals to people I know who can use the parts just to cover my costs.

Selling to the open market is just a pain because people either expect too much for the price or want to decide what you should be selling it for. I gave up on swap meet selling a long time ago.

If I buy used, I know what I am willing to pay and that determine whether I buy it for their price or pass.

Didn't say they don't have a right to ask. P.T. Barnum said " There's a sucker born everyday", but what happened to brotherhood and a sense of decency toward our mopar friends?

you think it's bad here, try buying B or E body parts on other forums. this place looks like the dollar store compared to that ****

Pretty much how I roll.

Some people don't see that side of it. I agree with you. I have given away lots of parts I was not going to use. People think they are gonna get rich sellin old car parts. Ain't happenin.

I think that "left" a very long time ago, and not just cars, or Mopars. I was first licensed as an amateur radio operator about 1965. "Back then" there WAS a real brotherhood of help, cooperation, etc. "Sometime" about maybe the mid 80's this changed a lot, or had changed. There are/ were several "on the air" swap nets. W7BUN in the Sea-Tac area, or "Clarence" on 40 meters. There was a lot of "junk" sold along with the "good."

ON THE OTHER side of the coin, you/ I have no idea what someone might have INTO parts. Either cost, labor or both.

I think T-man has something and lets not miss it. Or maybe I am reading a lot into it. If a young gun wants to get into cars a Nova looks like a Duster and the parts are a lot less. Don't take me wrong I love my Mopars but I want to see them survive. I have received parts and I sure have given my share away. And have done my share of swap meets and still love them. I witnessed a good friend (who I share a spot with}at Carlisle have a young kid come up and look at his emblems that he had. The father was talking to me and said he had no interest in cars AT ALL and just brought his 10 year old son to look at the cars because he loves them. Back to the kid.....he looked for a long time and picked out several emblems of cars he liked. When he asked my buddy what he wanted for them My buddy scooped up several more that the kid was looking at handed them to him and said, Please keep the hobby alive. I almost cried. I agree with everyone that has posted here but we will not get rich selling parts so lets keep the Hobby alive.

I’m kinda too old now but I got into this hobby when I bought my dart at 15. No one else in my family was into mopars so I was on my own. I ended up becoming friends with a few old timers that saw the need to help younger people. They ended up cutting my great deals on parts and helping with anything I needed. It helped out a ton but dealing with people in person is much different that on a forum.

I used to give great deals , even given a few things away until ran across some things being resold here or on eBay for double or triple what I sold for. some say that is capitalism, which is fine , but not when I'm lied to about how broke or desperate they are. some people are just crooked

I agree with ya, but that's how capitalism works sometimes lol. I've had plenty of help from people in the past with parts deals and such, and I try to do the same on the rare occasion that I do have something to sell, this kind of stuff is just bound to happen from some people though.

A "friend" will list a part, put some time and effort into proper packaging, get 3 shipping quotes, and deliver to the shipper in a timely manner. All at a give away price. Will you be my friend? LOL
Make a trip to town for a box, bubble wrap, shipping tape? I've been there done that. Completed packaging in the post office parking lot more than once. Lost a bit of my friendly in the process.
I still respond to parts wanted ads once in a while. My friendly is reserved for those.
If a seller starts out with friendship or hobby support in mind, good luck with that.
I'm still honest anyway.

I see the big prices here too. The best thing to do is don't comment and move on. If no one buys the part the price will come down to a reasonable level or the seller won't sell. From the seller's side, you shouldn't have to give it away either. Reasonable price is the key.

I agree I try to keep my parts I sell decently priced help people out. Locally it’s so rare mopar guys around I’ll just give some parts to like fuel pumps, alternators and crap I have to much of. Dustin

I'm amazed at the people asking$5-10k for plain Jane cars in need of total restoration when really nice cars don't sell for $12k.

Every old POS on craigslist is apparently worth 5k as well these days.

Had a customer who picked up an early '90's Honda Accord on the cheap. Needed some things to get it through inspection.

He got three times the price out of it after doing the work than what he paid for it.

The person he bought it from demanded he split the profit on the resale and even said they'd go to court over it (yeah, good luck with that.)

He bought it, it was now his, the previous owner was completely out of the picture once the title was turned over. In doing such he signed over his rights to have a say in anything.
I've sold **** cheap. Priced at what I thought was fair for what it was. I've sold parts on the expensive side after doing research on current prices. I've given **** away.

At those points the part is no longer mine to have any say in. Someone sells something I sold or gave away and makes the profit, then I'm the one who sold for cheap or gave it away. No longer mine to worry about. And more power to 'em.

Funny, people ***** if someone sells at a gain. No one bitches if someone sells at a loss.

Either way, ain't yours anymore to have a say in, one way or the other.

Yep, he be payin court costs and goin home empty handed. (in a sensible world)

I posted a while back a free part and even paid the shipping on getting it to them! They offered pay for the shipping and I said no, because of all the knowledge and help I’ve received on here, I just thought I would pay it forward. I spent time and money on getting it there, even sent them the tracking number. I sent them a PM asking if the part got there okay...that was 2 months ago and no response. I’ve seen other posts on here by them since...but I have yet to get even a thanks for the FREE part!

I agree with the OP on costs of parts...but we do have to remember one thing...we are dealing with Mopars! Aftermarket for Mopars is considered an afterthought!

Supporting the hobby is great. I have no problem paying for a part i need.selling? Well i dont sell much, easier to give it away. But if im selling something, its for the price i want. My 500 dollar truck after i was done with it,was 3500.
If i factor in time, i probably lost money.

Taking an act of kindness and selling it for profit? Downright despicable.
Been done to me before, burn me once, screw you....

Then there’s “you can have them, just throw me a few bucks for gas and pay the shipping”
Dude,it’s been 3 months, gimme my gas money back....
