We now have a 1/4” of ice on top of an inch or two of sleet. The big snow is coming in the morning tomorrow. This is going to be a mess.

Well, there’s a bright spot in this otherwise miserable weather day.
As a part of disassembling the company I work for to shut it down, the investors had decided a month ago when our bonuses were due that they weren’t going to pay them. Bear in mind these are bonuses for last year’s work that are 20% of our annual salary and without them we effectively take a retroactive 20% pay cut.
The senior management was fighting to get them reinstated since we met all of last year’s goals and are entitled to them, but we hadn’t heard anything about the progress. Tonight, we get an email say bonuses have been paid and the money has been direct deposited into our accounts. I checked mine and sure enough, it’s there.
That relieves a bit of stress...

I think we have about 8" of snow now. Snow has tapered off. Supposed to intensify again around 2AM till ??? (late tomorrow at least)

Not too worried. They'll be still making fuel until I can't drive anymore. I agree - in the long run its going to be a rare commodity. A lot of the cool old machines of era will become static museum pieces. At some point there won't be a way of justifying the production of limited quantities of the stuff needed, but I think thats quite a ways down the road. If it was close, every military with a long range view (like ours) would be pressing hard for alternatives sooner than later.

That's the right attitude!
There's a lot of nice things about the new vehicles but I don't want one. One day I might have to get one as a back up or for some other reason. Right now my '85 is new enough.
