I would bet that had more to do with the driver than the car.My 68 Barracuds with 3.23 sure grip was better in snow than my wife's Neon...

Look for another one these sell for $500 and up on a bad day. #'s man #'s!I won't ask for one then. I could use one for my Swinger. Dealer installed air didn't get one. I think I'll get one when I put the 4 barrel intake and carb on. Edelbrock has them.
A factory one should work with a little modification to the mounting.
It wasn’t the broken belt that killed him. It was the extreme g-forces to his head and neck whipping that did. The investigation resulted in the now mandatory head and neck restraint system.Wow I just made the worst possible decision and search on Google. I was looking for a set of instructions to properly mount these Simpson racing Harnesses in the dart. I somehow managed to come across the Dale Sr photos of the inside of his car from when he was killed. Crazy to think that a simple misplaced bolt caused the belt to break and kill him. All those millions of dollars in R&D and that happened.
Do you have a 4 point bar and a drivers seat for a harness?Wow I just made the worst possible decision and search on Google. I'm no expert, but...It wasn’t the broken belt that killed him. It was the extreme g-forces to his head and neck whipping that did. The investigation resulted in the now mandatory head and neck restraint system.
PLUS: AUTO RACING; Earnhardt's Death Not Linked to Seat Belt
i do for the Dart. Both are SCCA approved. I just wanted to compare their instructions to that of the rule book. don't want to mis-mount that thing.Do you have a 4 point bar and a drivers seat for a harness?
If so, then besides what Simpson may or may not provide, the sanctioning bodies will have the guidelines, whether its SCCA, NHRA or ECTA (or the midwet equivalent)
Don't blame you your bones will be pretty brittle by then...…..
Did you actually read all those in detail including the one I posted? Did you also check the dates of each one to see where they fell in the investigation timeline? The broken belt was ultimately determined not to be the cause of death.I'm no expert, but...
"NASCAR officials said Friday that Earnhardt was found with a broken seat belt after the wreck in which he was killed instantly."
ESPN Classic - Altered belt revelation stuns drivers
Daytona Beach police on Friday released photos of the controversial seat belt that NASCAR says broke apart when racing legend Dale Earnhardt's car slammed into the wall on the last lap of the Daytona 500.
Police reveal shots of Earnhardt's broken seat belt
"Dale Earnhardt’s broken seat belt was one of many factors that contributed to the death of the auto racing great, NASCAR said Tuesday in releasing its report on the wreck. The six-month investigation found the seat belt, the collision with another car and angle and impact in which Earnhardt hit the wall all played a role in the Feb. 18 crash on the final lap of the Daytona 500."
NASCAR releases report on Earnhardt crash, concludes seat belt was broken
Yes . And it was a perfect storm of several factors. The 324 page report to which I’m only about 20 pages in is pretty interesting if not morbid reading. Several factors involved. Either way, it’s worth making sure it’s right. Granted I likely will never be anywhere near the speeds of 200 mph wheel to wheel, i still wanna make sure it right.Did you actually read all those in detail including the one I posted? “Earnhardt sustained eight broken ribs, a broken breastbone and abrasions over the left hip and left lower abdomen, indications that the seat belt functioned properly through much of the crash, holding back Earnhardt's body, Myers said.
''What probably killed Earnhardt,'' Myers concluded, ''was the fracture at the base of his skull caused by the force of his head whipping forward.''
The autopsy found that the underside of Earnhardt's chin struck and bent the steering wheel, a blow that could have been enough to cause a fatal skull injury. But the head whipping by itself would have killed Earnhardt, Myers said.”
Later sled testing of an exemplar vehicle under identical conditions yielded g-forces experienced by Earnhardt ranging from 48 to 68 g. That means his head and helmet would have put instantaneous forward forces on his neck equaling 672-952 lbs even with the fully functioning belt.
Earnhardt died of a basilar skull fracture from his unrestrained head separating from his neck.

Then you definitely want it to include a HANS.Yes . And it was a perfect storm of several factors. The 324 page report to which I’m only about 20 pages in is pretty interesting if not morbid reading. The local road course track actually requires those or the other style of head/neck supports on all vehicles with 4 point or more harnesses
So will SCCA for most, maybe now all, W2W racing. The local road course track actually requires those or the other style of head/neck supports on all vehicles with 4 point or more harnesses
Yeah I went back in November and watched and asked questions. Plan to do so again next monthSo will SCCA for most, maybe now all, W2W racing.
What will matter is what the inspectors see on the car. SCCA itself does not certify or approve equipment. They will check what is on it, including your personal safety gear before you race. Some regions set up pre-event checks. Probably should go to one and observe.
Fixed it!Yeah I went back in November and watched and asked questions. Plan to do so again in 10 years when my car might be closer to being finished.
Well, I’m back from the Oral Surgeon. I knew it wasn’t going to be good when I walked in and they didn’t try to check me in, just told me to have a seat.
5 mins later, the nurse came out and said they had a medical emergency going on and would just do a quick assessment on me to determine how long I could wait for the extraction to be rescheduled. 10 minutes later, I was checked and rescheduled for Friday next week.
