"cheater slicks"

Yes I'm seeing those on like open will rat rod cars and also I'm a couple of gassers. I don't think they would fit the look of my car.
No probably not. Although if you have a rust bucket.................:poke::poke::poke::lol:

I ignored their advice and put my 275/60/15 555's on 7's anyway...
Me too.

I run the Nitto 555 275/60-15 on 15x7 Centerline AutoDrags on my Duster. This will be the 3rd summer and they are holding up nicely. Excellent street traction. I run 30psi street, 25 strip.

I have experience with the Nitto and the M/T drag radials. Based on a bunch of time slips, (but no actual same day comparisons) my impression is the Nittos are slightly softer, and maybe hook out of the hole a little better, but the M/T's work better on a decently prepped track. I can't get much more than 5000 miles out of either one, but I'm not really trying to either, if you get my drift... :)
I don't think a half inch narrower wheel will make any difference at all.

5000 miles but actually 7000 miles when you count the revolutions in the water box. LOL

Thank you men! It's looking like I might just go ahead and save the $120 and get the nitto's... they won't ship out till Monday anyway so I've got the rest of the day to hear a better argument LOL. Somehow I do prefer Summit over Jegs. Not that one has given me trouble over the other, but maybe I can have Summit match Jegs no extra fee for oversized shipping?

Those look great on there! I have an extra two inches sticking out on each side, but also I have the advantage of the big openings that the duster provides. I'm feeling I'll be okay. They do stick out an extra 2 in on each side as I do run an ebody rear axle. But the SS Springs keep it pretty high...

Here is something I learned the hard way... If you are racing at the track and really trying to win or improve the cars performance, drag radials are really different than bias ply slicks. With the bias ply tires, I'd do a 3-4 second burnout and set the pressures so they would still be spinning a little for the first 30 feet or so. That gave me the best 60 foot times. But with the drag radials, you don't want any spinning at all. To really get these tires to work, they need to "dead hook" at the launch. This requires different suspension setups between the two types of tires. Don't use rim screws with radials, they need higher pressures. I also only do about a 1 second burnout with the radials, they don't seem to like a lot of heat. With the radials, my experience has been that if you lose traction off the line, they are really tough to get to bite again, and the run is junk. This is just what I believe, based on just running a couple of my cars over the last 20 years. Maybe others have had different experience, or can tell me if I'm doing something wrong...

Considering your old school 80s theme I agree with tmm the old school pie cutters would look badass!! I think with today's technology all tires within that class will perform the same.

Pleaseeeeeeeeee..been racing longer then you've been alive:D:D
Then give us some valuable information and stop trolling!! If you have been racing longer than iv been alive then you are way to old to be trolling anyway!! If you dont have nothing good to say dont say nothing at all! Lol

Personally I think they would look very good on your car. I remember the look of the dusters chargers chevelles and novas etc etc back in the 80s when I was a little kid and they had the farm recap tires on the rear end to help in the snow or whatever. They look very similar to those. To me that completes the 80s look!

This is what I used in the 80's; if that's your period. The "S/S" was a soft compound version of the Indy Profile. Dead hooked my stock, auto trans Demon, but it only ran 14's.
I have no idea if they're still made.

bring back memories..... I ran a pair of Indy SS tires. LOL... I couldn't hook with them at all. I ended up going with the comp t/a drag radials.

MT Dr's are a interesting tire.... Make a little power and you can use them and risk hurting the car. Make decent power and they typically will work OK but they don't want a panzy launch. Make big power (700+) and you better smack off the button. I have never run the Nittos's but having worked with a 900hp mustang over the last few years they want to plant from jump street.

The tire I actually had good luck with was the Hoosier and that was in a Turbo buick with mid 1.40 60ft. If you are running a clutch definitely do your research but it will be a blast with 3 pedals....

Do not buy the Hoosier DOT drag radials.

Mine last about 300 miles or less on the street with my spool.

The will dead hook like a mother thumper tho....

On the front I run Hoosier 27x4.5x15 drag fronts. The turn great but also wear out crazy fast.

I'm on my second set in 2 months.

Gonna switch to the skinniest DOT tire I can find and hope for better longevity.

I can't afford 1,000 dollars in rubber every 3 months....

What you may find out JPar is a clutch management deal will become as important as a tire selection. Not sure if you guys have what we call " Gear Jammers" on the west coast but those guys have been there and done that. I dealt with a strong BB 5 speed car and only ran slicks but in the end I needed to address my clutch situation and that was not cheap....

I swear half the people in the swap meet over the last couple days here we're looking for slot mags. There was quite a few fourteens and quite a few Chevy pattern also a few sets of those Cobra mags for Ford's but....
as much as I like that old school look and want it for my duster now that I seen everybody looking for them I'm kind of glad I got what I got.

Yeah I've been through the clutch thing but haven't been able to afford the correct kind. That's why I'm kind of putting it back on the street and not so much drag racing so I can get some more affordable use out of my car. I will take passes and I do need to get my 2 Step working again

I hear you on afford... It was over 2k probably 10 years ago but I kept breaking parts and that was the next step lol... But that was a past life. 3 pedals always get respect. They are a blast on the street.
