Tame my 4-speed Stroker....

Evidently you missed post 395. When Rob has something of value I'll listen.
The problem is, you keep missing it and think your right when your not even on topic or the same page. But you keep on bally- whoing away.
When you get back to earth from sitting on your GODly thrown, let me know.

If you don't like the battoring back and forth, don't participate......Just saying
Looks like your tamer was a success! Can't what to see a et and a 60' time at the track!:thumbsup:

Oh let the poop fly! Lol it was just when I was trying to fabricate and enjoy putting it together it's a lot of work taking pictures and explaining things and getting caught up in some aluminum flywheel argument wasn't my thing I just had to put shenanigans on a hold. Again let the games begin if they want to fling poop...

Also as far as on the street trying to bang gears and shift there's too much acceleration. I mean really by the time I even hold out first and bang second I'm doubling the speed limit already... and again the weather wasn't predictable enough to get too far away from the house. I don't drive this car in the rain...
It's only about 4 minutes of suburb driving and about 4 minutes of country driving before I can get to a place I can bang a few gears and only piss off cows and horses..lol..
In all fairness to that 3K clutch drop I did out front I checked and I still had 26 lb of pressure in my tires. It has been raining and the streets are pretty clean, but not warm the tires were clean but not hot by any means just drove up and did it..

Yeah this time of year it hard to find a warm piece of pavement to do a stomp.

Try getting out of the 10 m.p.h. zone..... LOL
Damn I hit the disagree automatically and had to change it. LOL..
They dropped all the speed limits 10 miles an hour it's like 30 miles an hour top speed around here now that's on the big streets as well also that's the streets that they haven't taken a lane out of for a bicycle lane...

I'm really not trying to be that guy with the most noticeable car on the street either. You know people are giving me the thumbs up and noticing...

Anyways about the tamer to sum up my first impression with very minimal experience was a good one....
Obviously I need to go back to the website and reread the instructions as well as even giving weed burner another holler...

J peg, you need to get a E.T. slip when you get this all set up BEFORE you install the heads. Then do the head swap and see what difference they make
You know also I can just disconnect the clutch Tamer and take a pass with the new heads?...

Found a clutch Tamer at the swap meet today.

Unfortunately 318 bought it before I could.

Glad you got a laugh! I was kinda' wondering why you disagreed, thanks for clearing that up!

I called and asked a few more questions about set up. Grant as always a great listener and patient talked me through my questions and left me even more confident. I still have lots of testing to do, but I can already feel this is a good thing and more than likely found a permanent home..

I guess I should also say where I can see that this is likely a great part saver. Not only from the internet testimonies but a personal friend and my own experience so far is telling me that I probably would still have my eight and three-quarter rear-end had I had this ct in there...
When talking to Grant he mentioned a recent testimonial of someone telling him "I now enjoy bracket racing again". Combining my little experience with the Tamer and that testimonial I'm feeling very confident for this next season to be able to go (with better confidence about not breaking parts) do some bracket racing without trailering the car.
For now the season has pretty much wound down and there's one or two more weekends for the track. A member wanted me out there last night and I certainly wanted to but again so busy with my stuff at home.
Anyways bottom line I would highly recommend this product.
If I have more time for this I'll definitely post anytime I take it for a drive, but I'm not sure about ET till next spring...
Till next spring...(a picture of where my brain is at...)

That picture is a real thread killer. Of course, the jack wheels at PIR aren't closing early this year. Unreal.

They closed early last year to have a little good weather to repave the parking lot. It is a nice Improvement...
Lol... Or I mean yes you wouldn't have that excuse this year....:poke:...

Here's something I wrote a few minutes ago in response to a guy with a 3950lb Chevelle with a 454/T56/RXT dual disc that's trying to improve his [email protected] with a 1.97 60'...

One key to a good 60' is making HP in the first 15'-20' of the run. I took a flying guess on tire size, but attached is a rpm/mph chart of your gearing...

SS454 5500 3.91 shift points.PNG

To travel 60' in 1.7sec, here's the average time/distance/mph/rpm intervals for the gearing chart...
.3sec 1.65' 7.5mph 982rpm
.4sec 2.93' 10mph 1309rpm
.5sec 4.58' 12.5mph 1636rpm
.6sec 6.6' 15mph 1963rpm
.7sec 8.99' 17.5mph 2290rpm
.8sec 11.74' 20mph 2618rpm
.9sec 14.85' 22.5mph 3599rpm
1.0sec 18.34' 25mph 3272rpm
1.1sec 22.19' 27.5mph 3599rpm
1.2sec 26.41' 30mph 3927rpm
1.3sec 31' 32.5mph 4254rpm

The time interval above is basically the slip time you need to maintain that minimum rpm. Basically if overall slip time is only .3sec, engine rpm will drop to 982 1.65' after launch. Obviously you are not going to get a 1.7 60' if rpm drops to 982, as even if your engine made 600ftlbs @ 982rpm, still that's only 112hp thru the low point of the bog. Bump that slip time up to 1.3sec, now that 600ftlb is producing 486hp thru the low point of the bog. Far better chance of getting that 1.7 60'.

What a clutch hit controller does is give you a consistent way to adjust how long the clutch slips after launch. The longer clutch slip time is stretched out, the softer the hit will be. That softer hit allows raising launch rpm, which also makes more stored energy available for the launch.

If your car had an automatic, mid 12's would be possible just by choosing the right converter. With a stick, you get there by controlling the hit of the clutch. The downside to a converter is that a proper converter for your current combo may not work well at future power levels. Put a hit controller on your RXT, the clutch you already have will work for both your current combo and most future upgrades.

Anyways once dialed in I can tell this is going to be a little bit of a game-changer for me...
Thank you CT...

Haven't seen the new parking lot yet. If it's in the pits, it won't be long before the CART guys (or whatever sanction those guys run under now) will come along and drive pipe into the pavement. About 20 of us wrote letters to the Parks and Rec people when that first happened and they blew us off. Then when they wandered down there and LOOKED at the damage they were pretty pissed. But I digress. Those were the salad days of my pure hate for everything related to the Portland Parks and Recreation codes that the city can (or not...based on who they feel) use as loose rules for the lawful use of the park.

Thank you for getting me pissed this early in the day. BTW, somewhere around here, probably with all my other docs from that era, I have all the codes and such that were current at that time regarding use of the park, as that is exactly what it is, a park. Ahhhh, the city of PDX. How have I loathed the these many and long decades of lies.

See, I can wax poetic if the audience can grasp it.

FWIW, I'm going to Renegade tomorrow to meet skrews. Unless it rains.
