I want to delete the A/C and power steering on my 07 5.7 hemi. It is a truck timing cover engine (A/C up high on drivers side, Power steering down low on drivers side). I know there is an a/c pulley bracket that allows you to still have correct belt routing, but I can't seem to find anything in regards to removing the power steering. Is there a way to omit both, so that my belt only goes over crank, fan pulley, alternator, and idlers? I see solutions for car front covers, but none for the trucks...hoping someone can help me out.

I'm gonna shoot from the hip (which means I'm guessing) but having worked at the mopar dealership for 20 years I know that the techs loved to cry about manual steering when a Ram lost power assist, so I'm gonna say ANY truck hemi has provision for P/S so it seems reasonable to assume you may have to switch to a pass car timing /water pump housing to delete the p/s and do whatever mods that set up requires.

I use truck covers and modify them to use a gm cs130 alternator. I dont use a/c or p/s. I dressed down the right (looking at it) upper bolt boss and installed a factory idle pulley. Its been driven and drag raced with no issues. If your gonna use the stock alt. It shouldn't be an issue

I figured it out out of necessity. I wanted the drivers side water outlet and upper alternator position. Without a/c the belt wouldn't have enough water pump contact. The subsequent belt routing got kinda funky. The answer was already there (casting), just had to figure it out simply, and simple repairs are nice. The pulley is a factory 5.7 tensioner pulley and idler pulley centering bolt

We Mopar guys are always figuring out another way to get it done!

Actually, my engine had a car timing cover on it when I got it, but I had to swap to the truck cover because I am going to be running a Procharger for the truck covers. It also helps out that the radiator hose routing on the truck cover seems much closer to working with my Champion rad for LA SB inlets and outlets.

That looks fantastic! From what I see, it looks like you omitted the power steering completely, added an idler where the a/c pulley would go, another idler between it and the relocated alternator? I am going to be using the stock alternator mounting location. So technically I can do away with a p/s pulley completely, and just throw in an idler for the a/c location? Also, how is belt selection with the stock 7 rib truck stuff?

^^^the idler was a factory delete pulley that mounted where the oe pump was^^^ as far as mine goes, I trimmed all the unnecessary casting of the truck cover, including the a/c mounts and p/s mount. the added idler is mounted to the water pump, the truck pump has a bolt stand off cast in it just below the a/c mount I just added a proper depth pulley spacer and used the factory tensioner pulley and idler pulley centering bolt. the 2005 cover has 2 idlers and a tensioner. the idler you see between the alternator and new pulley is in the factory location. my mod adds only 1 pulley. 7 rib belt selection isn't bad, my belt number wouldn't help you as noted I use a gm alt and ati balancer

These pictures help! Thank you! I am about to head to junkyard today to grab some parts and see what I can make work through test fitting before I finalize. You may get a pm from me in the future!

So just to be sure, you didn't place a pulley in place of the absent p/s pump? Unless I am looking at your pictures wrong. Just want to be sure.

Here it is, the only pulley was added to the circled mount. Hope this helps. Also a pic of the cover when I started cutting so you can see where the original p/s mount was.

I did the same thing on my car. No A/C compressor or P/S pumps and no filler pulleys in their place. I added the one idler puller to the cover on a bolt hole that was already there, but did have to add a few washers to get the belt spacing correct. Have had it that way ever since without any issues. I just measured for a belt with a string and did my best to route the belt in a way to give good pulley wrap on all the driven components.
