New lift.

I worked at a tire/auto service place for about 4 years back in 80s. Rarely anything very new to play with but even those still were prone to leak anything anywhere. Store got financially burned a couple times before parking one under another was banned. No the new ones don't leak like the dinosaurs but they can. Anything that can happen will. Good luck
I don't know about other brands, but my Benpak has a series of locks it goes through on the way up. At full up, I listen for the mechanical lock falling into place( it's loud and easy to hear) and then lower it about 3 inches onto the locks. It will NOT go down until you raise it 3 inches, and pull on the cable releases all the way down. With the locks engaged, it will not go down if there's a hydraulic failure. Come to think of it, I guess the car is stuck up there until the hydraulics are restored to working condition. A well engineered product.

Mine is a John Bean 12k, and also has the same locking mechanism. While I could raise a vehicle and stop between the locks without engaging them, I absolutely will not. No way, no how. It's just not worth risking my life or anyone ele's.

Hmm, yeah I guess that's obvious now that I think of it.
Still ain't worth the risk though. I will not get under mine unless I walk all the way around it and touch all 4 locks to make sure they're fully engaged. When you work your whole adult life in a very hazardous job like I did, and you have as well.....you tend to be pretty vigilant about safety.

is it a 4 post or 2 post? if it s a 4 post just a heads up if its not completely square and perfectly level it WILL munch the nylon blocks used to guide the trolley. this happened to our john bean at work and it is not a fun game removing it.

My new toy. 10k Grand Prix...made by Bendpak. Just finished the install a couple weeks ago. The lift and the building has been a long time coming. Kind of a retirement gift/project after spinning wrenches in one form or another for 40+ years. Worked on hoists my whole life....not gonna crawl on concrete in my 60s!

Love my new Wildfire lift. Went with the new Wide Exotic Tall. Love the extra 8" width compared to the Advantage life i had.

How tall is your garage? I like the mezzanine you built. Mine is 20 feet tall and was thinking about it. One side of the garage is taken up with all kinds of equipment. Do you have a dumb waiter to lift equipment up to the mezzanine?

18' ceiling. 8' ceiling height under Mez. 2x12 MSR grade floor joists.
4' wide stair to access Mez. I love the extra space. Added racking for part storage and a work bench. Still need to add high top Bar for hanging out..

Nice lift. I mainly use mine for storage, but is nice for doing brakes, rear axle swaps etc with the bridge jack. I also added magnetic LED light strips to my lift. No drop light needed. I also made brackets and added a hoist for pulling up non-running cars up the driveway and up onto the hoist.

I have a 9k Forward and the minute I put it in life became instantly easier. I've been kicking around the idea of getting a four post for storage if nothing else.

It would make working on that Jeep much easier.

I use our two post, for storage. Truth be told, the car on top is a roller, without engine and trans. When an engine finally goes in, one of the cars will have to go because, there has to be a place indoors, for the big dollar tow vehicle.

The only four post I will consider will be one with slip plates and turn plates. That way, I can do pretty much everything.
