Things look better with the trans. yeah !

Hey, for a buck-fifty you had to get it ... that's a veritable "bargain" now a days.

Speaking of "now a days", it seems that a decent "it was just running last year" motor and trans today generally costs you ...

still working on the stuck pistons . Good news is the trans is not lock up and looks good , crank shaft is very nice and i pull a set of 906 heads off this 2bb motor ... so i,m cool with what it cost. pic will come later
 
I'm actually still interested in how this turns out...if the bores can actually clean up anything less than .060" and the guts aren't ruined it could turn out pretty well
 
looking to do stock rebuild with 4 bb carb and rv type cam have cam in a 400 ran may 25hrs so its in great shape will get specs on cam later.
 
says it was running a year ago...running from the exterminator! ATF and kerosene should free that piston, just fill the bores and catch the drain. breaker bar on the crank turn a little a day in either direction. Good luck.

You get crank to move at all, you will be ok, it will more then likely free up. MT
 
Just today got lifters to break free . still havent tryed to break pistons yet but i think there ready ...
 
Well, you'll need to take it to a machinist to find out if the bores will clean up at all, then go from there...I wouldn't buy a damn thing for it until you hear from you machinist. Generally speaking, if it can clean up at .060" or less, you should be good to go...THEN you can buy some pistons

Still working on freeing up moving parts. Doing a few projects ,1996 jeep cherokee on 6.5 lift , getting together parts for my 400 block to stroke . and things take time ... Any way got block on stand and will be breaking pistons out ( and i mean breaking !!) soon .

On an engine like that it is easier to just bust the pistons than to try and get them loose. You can reach up under the piston crown with a steel rod and then pop it hard with a 5 lb hammer and the crown of the piston will break off. Once you break a few of the pistons off then you can rotate the engine and pop the rest out. That block is probably ruined but you won't know until you get it de-rusted and run a boring bar thru it.
 
Heck, the tranny is worth that! The engine looks like a long life of abuse with Pennzoil in the crankcase! LOL
 
Pop crank caps and rod caps an removed rod bolts , out came crankshaft with no damage.
have 1 piston out and ran glaze breaker on it , looks good now I just take my time . One wrong swing and ding and .....junk . pics to follow.
 
So what ya think ??? I might get lucky . Not the worst ones .....

Well all good things.....sad but oh well 4th piston out and ....well look for your self.
On to my 1965 440 block yeah this one all apart just need to get serious about it . Thanks for the intrest and great comments. Lol cant seem to find pics i just uploaded any how crack in # 7 piston wall . suxs.

You can sleeve the 1 cylinder.....
 
Sleeve it--a well done sleeve will give you the same service as factory cast. No rocket surgery involved, but it will increase the cost of the block by whatever your machinist charges-otherwise, looks good so far.

EDIT: I googled cylinder sleeve cost...and most of the links I found varied greatly, but if you pegged an average, you're probably looking at $150 for parts and labor...but you'd have a block that's serviceable and could readily be bored with the other cylinders, if that's the only thing wrong with it.
