I have a 65 barracuda, putting a 360 in it. We’re using stock manifolds, after market intake and 323 gears for now. 727 transmission. What cam should or could we use? K20-223-3? I should mention we want a noticeable idle and the exhaust will be 2 1/4 possibly 2 1/5

Up for sale is a Comp Thumper cam and lifter set in good condition and removed in favor of a smaller cam. It was used in 360 - 4spd manual ‘91 W150 for 3 months with less than 5K miles. The cam broke in well, lifters are in the proper order, see pictures below. Asking $250 shipped in the 48.

Can't find the mopar purple cam 280/474 anywhere, I had that cam once and loved it nice idle and pulled like a fright train.what I like I was able to use stock push rods and rockers,just had to change valve springs comp 904.if I can't find my old cam what is a dead ringer close specs as the 280...

I'm pretty sure all 4 bbl 360's came with that cam, right? Not just LRE's.

MP 284-484 cam was "fun" to tune on a 9.5:1 383. I can magine the fun on a 8.5:1 360. ...and I also doubt this is correct cam info.

There is no way that is the cam in the LRE though. 340 auto cam was dead probably after '76 and the '77 and later E58 and all EH1 motors probably had the same cam as the 2 bbl 360. Maybe it was a different cam, but no way was it the 340 auto cam. See post 40 in this thread.

Rockers cost about the same. So we are talking about carb, intake, cam, and headers. All things being equal, in my experience, the 383 will destroy the 360. Just don't over cam it.

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard that the 1974 dart sport had two versions of the 360 and one was considered a high performance option because it had the 340 cam and again I don't know this for a fact, same thing for the 1974 360 duster's. I could be wrong about this

****, the experts still argue about what cam was in the EH1 lil red express motors. some say it was just a standard production 360 cam and others say it was a 340 cam. someone needs to find an unmolested LRE ,pull the cam and stick the damn thing on a cam doctor and put the debate to rest.

thats been debated for many years.. not sure anyone knows for sure unless someone actually pulled the cam and had it cam doctored.. many say its just a regular 360 production cam.

I would presume this comparison between a 360 and 383 would have similar compression ratios, cam, etc. to base a decent comparison.
